Im a solid believer of you are who you knowingly surround yourself with. The person who sent in the first story is actively choosing to be friends with someone who has consistently shown abusive behavior. I think the money debate depends on the kind of relationship-a boyfriend may not be a permanent fixture the same way a parent is. Parents are meant to provide for their children-no matter how old you get, you’re still their child and as long as the relationship is good, it makes sense that they would be the first ones you ask (unless you’re married or something).
