The thing is, for all of us whove had true mental health issues, theres just as many people who claim to have had mental health issue but really didnt, which just makes things worst. One thing that bothers me a lot, being bipolar, is when people speak of depression and claim they are depressed when in reality they are just sad or in a down, which is 100% normal. Being depressed isnt really about being sad, its much much more then that, and over long periods of time or recurring. Someone depressed will never openly admit they are depressed, especially if they arent in the process of getting help. What i’m trying to say, is that this stigma will always stay until the day people stop claiming issues they do not have. The best example is ADHD. So many claim to have it, but in reality they dont. Being lazy isnt a symptom of it, or just being forgetful. I highly suggest to all to gave a conversation with a ADHD person who isnt medicated and then one that claims to be, the difference is incredible. Its very frustrating for us that made the effort to get diagnosed and deal with it, all to have people who arent actulally sick claim to be and water down the issues caused.
