The thing is, for all of us whove had true mental health issues, theres just as many people who claim to have had mental health issue but really didnt, which just makes things worst. One thing that bothers me a lot, being bipolar, is when people speak of depression and claim they are depressed when in reality they are just sad or in a down, which is 100% normal. Being depressed isnt really about being sad, its much much more then that, and over long periods of time or recurring. Someone depressed will never openly admit they are depressed, especially if they arent in the process of getting help. What i’m trying to say, is that this stigma will always stay until the day people stop claiming issues they do not have. The best example is ADHD. So many claim to have it, but in reality they dont. Being lazy isnt a symptom of it, or just being forgetful. I highly suggest to all to gave a conversation with a ADHD person who isnt medicated and then one that claims to be, the difference is incredible. Its very frustrating for us that made the effort to get diagnosed and deal with it, all to have people who arent actulally sick claim to be and water down the issues caused.

Paddy saved so many men lives with this. He is precious, too much respect to say this in such a manly sport. He’s a goody in my eyes.

I've become a huge fan of Paddy. Love that he said this. Need more stars to speak up on this issue.

There is nothing better than seeing this shift in sports where male fighters, people a lot of young guys look up to, are spreading this message to talk.

And powerful words they was and I was not disappointed… I have dealt with adhd, ptsd, anxiety and depression for 42 yrs and everyday is difficult. Get help like I did and so many others did to face what they’re suffering with as life is precious.

Well. Done. Wonderful to hear him using his platform to speak some words on that subject. Because it really is a very visible stigma in many, many communities.

My father had a stroke yesterday... The day before the symtpoms set in like numb arm and not being able to see on his right eye. Hes a "real man", still is, so he didnt want do bother us went to bed to sleep it off. Next day my mum noticed and he had a small stroke, minimal damage thank god. To everyone talk to your parents, grandparent and friends and tell em to be comfortable and not embarrased about any problem they have. if its depression or pain in your chest, just communicate and let people know so they can get support and help if needed.
