Then at that point it would be another 3-6 months of preparation for heavyweight and then another 2-3 month fight camp for the jones fight. Even if he could go to LHW he would still be waiting for around the same time give or take a month. Pereira also has been trying to move up because he wants to retire at heavyweight so it would probably end up being- jones concedes the belt or is stripped and then waits a year minimum, probably two before he fights Pereira before HIS retirement. Remember that Pereira wants to be the first three division champion so hey may very well eye a fight with Aspinall after the Ankalaev fight. So by mid 2026 I could see jones vs Pereira happening for a "legacy fight".

Jones was fighting after a year out with Injury. Many are forgetting to talk about that. Tom is right about having speed and power he does have that , though in all the guys Tom has faced he didn't have to worry about kicks, Jones is all about kicks, and will use them to slow Tom down.

I had more issue with this fight than Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson - ridiculous in my opinion, Jake Paul was never going to try and hurt Mike badly; Jones had to fight properly, but he was fighting someone in no state to fight at that level. I love Miocic, I’ve wanted him to win every fight he’s fought; he’s so past it. He wasn’t the same person when he fought Ngannou the second time. The fact that this fight was for the championship is a disgrace - a waste of everyone’s time. Anyone who paid to watch it or believed it could be a close fight needs to give their head a wobble.

Tom's point is backed up by JJs last fight at light heavyweight vs Domininc Reyes. The ONE thing Reyes brought to the table was the athletiscm and reaction time to get out of Jon's way. Imagine what Aspinall, at his size would do when in the same position Reyes was for 3 rounds? No one knows that better than Jones.
