Invisible Ceiling Glitch

ICG is invisible ceiling glitch. When a grounded attacker hits someone's shield, he usually starts sliding back from recoil and enters this "Invisible Ceiling" state where if he gets hit, then all vertical knockback gets set to 0. This state ends after the attacker loses all that recoil momentum, which happens when the attacker stops sliding (most common way it ends), grabs ledge, grabs another character, or is grabbed by another character. Also, this "Invisible Ceiling" state stays active if the character somehow goes airborne before losing the ground recoil momentum. Most characters have good enough traction that this rarely is an issue, but in general the longer a character's wavedash, the easier it is to get this glitch to happen (which is why the glitch is associated with Luigi so much. Watch Abate vs S2J at the Big House 5 if you haven't yet). In this situation, Doc used up-b on a shield which gave him a slight push backward during the short time he was still on the ground at the move startup. But since the move also puts him in the air, Doc hadn't been on the ground long enough to get rid of that sliding recoil. Thus, the "Invisible Ceiling" state was stored, so when Samus hit Doc before he landed, Doc had all vertical knockback set to 0.

I main Doc in Ultimate and I’ve been playing him since Melee. I can tell you for certain that Doc in Ultimate isn’t as good as you think. He’s a mid tier at worst and he isn’t much better than that. Plus, Lui$ gets impressive results in big tournaments with Doc before he switched to doing Fox/Mario/Doc.
