Hey Ed, we are getting so many boards with similar functionality you may want to give a quick synopsis of the differences when a new board is featured.

Basically the processors are almost all the same for 32 bit, they have different clock speeds and a wired to different pins or devices. When I have more time away from my day job I can explain in more depth in videos.

Great vlog. I need to get Marlin going before I try Klipper. A couple of questions: early on you say ”because WE are using a unique serial port we…..”. Why are WE using a unique serial port? And who is WE? BTT, You or just anybody that wants to put Marlin on a BTT Manta board. Or is that the port that is used with a 32 bit board? Thank so much for this Marlin install vlog!

Thanks for this Ed. I have the btt-e3ez-v1.0 without the CB1 or CM4 installed and could not get Klipper firmware loaded either through the USB or SD card image. Then I saw on the btt site for the board they say you can run without the CB1 or CM4 but only on Marlin. Site says "Don't want to use a CB1/CM4? No problem. Marlin is supported without one. Choose between Marlin or Klipper at will". Even though their documentation clearly state how to install Klipper firmware. Followed your steps but for my Manta e3ez and success. Weird it won't take Klipper firmware. I have the CB1 coming and will see if it takes with it installed. External Pi4B via USB doesn't work. I have Mainsail running on the Pi4B fyi. Thanks.

I have a fundamental question. Will the board work without the cm4 or cb1 module? Does the m8p or m4p board work with marlin without the module ? Thank you.

Yes.

Silly question but how did you pull up search to just search the open code?
@Enjoymentboy9 ай бұрын
I know it's probably a silly question but is this equally applicable to the manta M5P? Only asking as I have one on the way and intend to try klipper but just in case I'm not a fan I might need to go back to marlin.

It's similar. The process varies depending on if you use CB1 or Cm4 or Emmc on either and printer configuration file. There's a Discord link in the description where everyone talks about their issues and how to fix them for Klipper.

Can you use CanBus with M8P when running Marlin and octoprint?
@EdwardBraiman Жыл бұрын
Probably. Need to investigate.

@@EdwardBraiman I didn't even realize Marlin worked on the M8P until I came across this video. I got it when they released it, Thought about using Klipper. and got the EBB 42 Canbus, U2C and Pi4B I planned on adding to my printer. but due to the learning curve and down time I havn't had time. Last time I checked I dont think it was compatable but I dont think Marlin worked with this board at that time either. Would be nice if it would work now with CanBus now.

Hi Ed , Can Use TMC2100 Step Driver On this Version ? if we can, How i Set Jumper ? Second Question , Can install Marlin in this Board without cm4 or cb1 ? just the board only ? tnx :*

Once Marlin is installed on the Manta M8P, can you open a serial connection to directly send commands?
@EdwardBraiman Жыл бұрын
With either raspberry pi CM4 or CB1 using OctoPrint. I'll need to double check USB to an external computer.
@PM-nf6xb10 ай бұрын
@@EdwardBraiman I am currently trying to connect the manta e3ez without CB1/CM4 to a pi4b via the USB and no love. Octopi cannot see any serial ports. In your video you used -1 (native USB), although that compiles, the USB is inactive. Tried 0 (won't compile) and 1,2,3 (they compile) but nothing works at this point.

The only issue with the Manta boards is the 64MHz processor. Marlin + Input Shaping runs better on something like the Octopus Max EZ.

Thanks for this, I was wondering what the difference was and you saved me a google. :)
