I've never been more terrified of the future. Excellent! But I have to wonder: where does the ever-expanding sophistication of AI which can mimic faces, voices, and even writing of individuals fit into this corpo-anime hellfunnel? Maybe you won't even need a puppeteer, no longer having to keep up the kayfabe for a creature that is entirely artificial. They can be utterly flawless and entirely under the control of the corporation, without the potential downfalls of a human being's personal life interfering with stan expectations. Maybe brands will maintain massive server farms constantly running the latest GPT/Deepfake iteration to create infinite potential Btuber avatars, pitting them in simulated advertising deathmatches to force artificial selection for the most dono-worthy amalgamation, before releasing them onto the excited public. Anyway, I gotta go start building my cabin in the woods and hoarding cans of beans, see ya!

A lot of money and effort goes into marketing and researching how to influence people without them knowing it's happening. Our brain has all these different association and reward systems in place meant to help us navigate the world but they're probably not really meant to handle the amount of information we get presented with these days. tl;dr: the "you are not immune to propaganda" Garfield picture, but it's a catgirl

Hey man you just gave me existential dread over cartoon actor girls singing songs on youtube, because every line of this video is true. Suntory already has an anime girl mascot representative, to put it into context Suntory is a beverage company in Japan as commonly sold as Coca Cola. She's already collaborated with multiple other vtubers, and promotes suntory products on her stream. As for toxic stan culture, it already happens in the form of brands. Psycho fans online will already defend companies like Disney over their films if anyone dares to complain, forming into an easily lead mob. Please prepare yourselves for the Btuber apocalypse.

Why? I was blissful in my ignorance, why did you have to strip that away? Its the logical end conclusion of marketing; if you can make the consumer form a parasocial relationship with the product, even indirectly, you've won. i don't think this is really 1for1 future but its kinda close. i think the reason is how aimless fans have put themselves in. the only thing in their lives they find enjoyable is anime girls because all their life they believed that no one real would love them. its this belief that people are not your friend and entertainment is your only pleasure. a sad fact that it became true because they believed this idea without doubt. thankfully i know there are people who dont believe this crap and hopefully this isn't too much of a thing. also lets be honest , e3 has always been in the gutter and not everyone is gonna be happy with all games.

It's a funny idea, having people acting religious towards a burger chain because the mascot is cute and posts funny tweets. There's probably more than 1 sci-fi setting with this set up. I kind of looked at how people make the live2D avatars and I could kind of tell what they were doing. It might be funny to make some horrible monstrosity and record an ironic commentary video with it but it also sounds like a lot of work.

While we are talking about anime fans ruining the world and their standards, I saw a poll for fire emblem, "which character is better? Yunaka from Engage,", who is a non character, who wears stripper clothes and has retarded catchphrases instead of dialouge, "or Edelgard from 3 houses?", an actual character that means something to the story. Unsurprisingly Yunaka was leading with 60% and Edelgard had 40%, its a meaningless popularity contest between two cartoon women but it speaks for it self.

You forgot how that thing in the sprawl trilogy where dead or "graduated" pupeteers can just have new actors behind them, is freakishly possible now. Thing is, I don't think you could design just about any of the major vtubers you see right now, by comittie. It's not that they're wacky, it's that they frequently are just plain savage, and lewd, and take too many breaks. If they went after kids rather than burned out millenials, then the "list of a thousand things you may never say" would put too much stress on the actor, and their performance would come off as disingenuous, and kids are remarkably good at picking up on that. I'm not describing how Btubers will never happen, I'm describing how they'll fall. Vtubers just need to be ready to weather the coming storm.

Are you just another of those "people" that say "anime bad" while buying whatever the trendy bikini model of the day advertises while complaining about consumerism?
@foulenergy3 жыл бұрын
If it makes you feel better this video is a joke. I don't actually think any of this is going to happen. I also wasn't trying to seriously suggest anime styles were at fault for some kind of dysfunction. Vtubing will produce some freaky drama like any other massive internet trend, but it's probably not going to end in a contrived death game.
@maximo_ramirez3 жыл бұрын
@@foulenergy Fair. I was probably on edge because many others have basically said that vtubing is "the last straw of consumerism, too much" and just projected them on you. Like, it's just a part of it, not even something actually that well-known outside anime circles. Even the BBC interview to some vtubers ended with the host saying "that's freaky". As you said, it'll just be your regular drama until it's subsumed by consumerism and streamlined. I do believe modern internet culture will inflate it because of its "fully virtual" characteristic, though. That, and the "anime" thing, which I've seen gets some people really mad regardless of action.
