Great video! I was having trouble with it not tracking properly until this video. My little tip is remove the counterweight & use plumber's ptfe tape on the thread. Refit counterweight. This stops the weight being loose on the arm & adjustment stays put.

I got mine in yesterday and just set it up and it works perfectly! The only change I did was not to mount it to the plinth. I had a hard piece of foam that I used to mount it on so I can use it on my other turntables. I read that other people had issues getting it to work properly, but if you carefully read the instructions and level the arm to the turntable with an album on it and then adjust the smaller weight to put the proper amount of pressure of the bush to the vinyl then it will track just fine. I'm spinning an album now and it's working perfectly! I drop the brush just before dropping the tonearm and it works fine.

Nice vid, but what if I don't have a ground post on my Technics SL-Q3? I just have the ground wire coming from inside it. Can I ground it to the amp as well, instead?

We believe that it will work as long as you set it up to your systems ground. The instructions appear to say as much. If you click on our product link(www.bagsunlimited.com/product/7299/turntable-carbon-fiber-brush) there is a copy of the instructions in the images. If you need further help please let us know. Thanks.

Would this connect to my receiver if my turntable is vintage and has no earth connection?
@BagsUnlimitedRochester
@BagsUnlimitedRochester 3 жыл бұрын
It needs to be grounded to function properly. A vintage turntable should definitely have a ground post but, if not, maybe an outboard preamp would work.

@@BagsUnlimitedRochester My receiver has a ground would that be best?
@BagsUnlimitedRochester
@BagsUnlimitedRochester 3 жыл бұрын
@@hifi.david. yes. The ground wire should come from the turntable into the receiver.
@hifi.david.
@hifi.david. 3 жыл бұрын
@@BagsUnlimitedRochester No because mine is built in to the turntable, the brush cleaner I bought has a earth wire and I have been told to connect it to the receiver
@BagsUnlimitedRochester
@BagsUnlimitedRochester 3 жыл бұрын
@@hifi.david. as long as they’re both grounded to the same circuit there shouldn’t be any ground loops or noise issues.

What if you don't have a screw?
@BagsUnlimitedRochester
@BagsUnlimitedRochester 6 жыл бұрын
Per the manufacturer, you should be able to connect the brush to your "system's ground" for the brush to dissipate static properly. Perhaps to the amp you are using? If your system does not have some sort of ground termination we can't be fully sure this product will work as advertised. Here is a copy of the instructions if you do not have them. Well, I've spent over two hours and I can't get the arm to track at all. I've adjusted, re-adjusted. Less weight. More weight. Doesn't track.

That's unfortunate. Have you checked the manufacturers website to see what they recommend? We can do a test shortly and try to see if we can help if the manufacturer cannot.

I just purchased one of these because a buddy swears by it. I understand that it works well and worth having, however, I had no idea that this thing requires the use of an adhesive to secure it. I just assumed that it was heavy enough to stay put. My turntable, which was really expensive, has a wood finish that I would not like to screw around with by putting adhesive on it. Never mind that, I would not recommend sticking this thing to a cheap turntable! I will try to figure out options once I receive it, but I can tell you that I am pretty sure that I will not be sticking this thing to the wood finish of my turntable!

It doesn't necessarily require the use of adhesive. That's just there to keep the arm from moving around if the turntable gets bumped or something like that. If setup and balanced correctly, it should work without using the adhesive on the bottom. Please let us know what you come up with.
@RumbleFish69
@RumbleFish69 6 жыл бұрын
That's good to know. I am still concern because it will still have the adhesive along with the paper that seals it in and that will probably be slippery. I will need to find a way to weigh it down because the concern i have is keeping it place without sticking it to the surface.
@BagsUnlimitedRochester
@BagsUnlimitedRochester 6 жыл бұрын
The adhesive ring on the bottom is completely removable, leaving only the metal base. If you take the adhesive ring off, i don't predict it will slide around a lot. Granted that's not how the manufacturer recommends you use it but with the weight set properly, i don't believe there will be very much slipping around of this unit.

Sounds good! I appreciate all of your help. I will be getting this cleaning arm tomorrow so I want to make sure it works as best as possible. If I wasn't so concerned about the wood finish on my turntable I might just go ahead and stick it onto the turntable, but that just doesn't seem like an option for me. Thanks again!
