The first 12 mins were great. The last 4 were so honest and true not just for you but so many of us, it is a revelation👍👍. Thanks for a honest video, not just about hill walking, but the human condition.👏👏☕

I like how described the sense of "community". That's something I experience on my canoe trips. I also liked how you talked about feelings of peace and being content. It's at times like those when you realize what is truly important.
@FarForFiona3 жыл бұрын
I have that feeling whenever I’m anywhere in nature really, but particularly in the hills. It’s lovely to hear that there is also a canoeing community too. I’d imagine it is probably the same for all outdoor activities in remote places. I love following your canoe trips, it’s so very beautiful in your part of the world. Definitely on my bucket list to get over there!

A beautiful film of my favourite place on the planet - thank you for taking my mind off today's invasion of relatives. So much of what you say is spot on too - I first took to the hills at a time of turmoil and that's where I continue to be drawn. I'm convinced that they have a magnetic hold over us
@FarForFiona3 жыл бұрын
I’d have to agree. The first time I went up a Munro I was very unfit and actually HATED the climb. But once I got to the top it was the most incredible feeling. I’ve never looked back since and even although I still don’t particularly enjoy the discomfort of the ascent, the climb is ALWAYS worth it. Magnetic hold is the phrase. Good luck with your relatives today and if all else fails, just lock yourself in the bathroom 🤣

Beautiful video as always Fiona. Glad that you have finally begun to find yourself. After all, you are the most important person you will ever find in your life. Everyone else, whoever they may be and whatever they may bring, are simply complimentary. Love seeing you relaxed, simply because your accent falls right back to that wee hebridean lass. It's like music x

Thanks so much William. Your comment as always brought a smile to my face. You’re so very right in what you say. Unless we can take care of and be true to ourselves, how can we possibly take care of or understand others. X

Weren’t those guys great, Munro specialists! The community of people in the mountains is truly special and makes it even more of a joy to be up amongst the peaks. It was so atmospheric there in the clouds, magnificent (Can’t remember the last time I had a tea cake, going to add it to this weeks food shop 😊)

Fiona. Really enjoyed meeting you both and hope we didn't get in the way too much. Great video. I agree about hillwalking. It got me though a serious illness some time ago. Hope we bump into each other again on the hills. Roy.

Hiya Roy, you boys didn’t get in the way at all, you made our day! And all of your Munro bagging efforts are an inspiration and have made me think more seriously about taking on the challenge myself. I know which group to go to for those professional tips anyway! It was a real pleasure meeting you all, hope to see you again soon! 😁

Never underestimate the power of being in the hills. When you're part of a landscape billions of years old it puts things into perspective. You have addressed many important & life changing issues in your videos but the Tunnock tea-cake debate is definitely the most profound so far. ( I just start at the side & munch my way through). Stunning video again my friend xxx

Thank you Michael! You’re right it is a wonderful experience being surrounded by these ancient landscapes. Can’t agree with you about the Tunnock’s Tea cake however but I’m willing to give it a try….I am an adventurer after all 😂

Some great points raised Fiona, getting to know yourself, finding peace and contentment and most importantly living on the edge with Tunnocks tea cakes. My revelation on contentment was the understanding that no matter how bad it gets, you do come out the other side. I had a rocky period a few years back. The mother of my four children was taken in a high profile homicide, she was my ex. We were very lucky to have an amicable split about 5 years before and had remained friends. My life changed on a dime, like in divorce everything was going to be different. I set up a home for my kids to give them a rock to cling to, granted they were young adults and together with love we survived. No matter what happens, there is always light. The outdoors has played a big part in healing and acceptance, I found that it's not about stuff it's about experiencing life. That's why I love your adventures, your willingness to step out of your comfort zone and show vulnerabilities that's brave, not to mention your determination to help others. ~As for the Tunnochs tea cakes, just put them in your mouth in one go. (one at a time) x

Oh Will you are one incredible human being. To have gone through so much and come out the other side with such love and hope is really quite something to behold. Your children are very lucky to have a father like you. I feel very honoured that you’ve accompanied me on my journey right from the beginning and have encouraged and supported me every step of the way. You are a wonder and an inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. As for the Tunnock’s Tea cakes…..sacrilege! 😂 x
