BS I call big time BS. Bubba blades go dull very fast. I have 5 of them. Have to hone them after two walleye's. The best thing about the bubba blades is the handle. That grip is nice when wet. Go get yourself a knives of Alaska Coho & steelheader combo. Blows bubba blades out of the water.

@@BBBYpsi I've fileted dozens of fish before I've had to resharpen my bubba blade. BTW, I have fileted 30+ Alaskan Salmon (Coho, Sockeye, King) in 1 sitting without having to sharpen my blade. My guess is you don't know how to filet a fish or sharpen your blade properly. Don't get me wrong the bubba blade isn't the best, but it holds the edge well.

Hi Heath, Fillet knives have soft steel to let the blade flex. I have been collecting and sharpening pocket knives for over 30 years. The key to any knife is to keep it sharp. The Lansky Turn Box sharpener sells for $20 on e-bay and can sharpen long blades. It's very easy to use. The most expensive knife will need to be sharpened at some point. I have several sharpening systems but the Turn Box by Lansky is easy to use and is inexpensive. Use the 20 degree holes. The 25 degree holes are for heavy duty knives. Thanks, Mickey

Don't fillet knives need to be sharpened at a 17 degree angle, and chef knives at 20 degree..if I'm not mistaken these blade are factory sharpened at 17 degrees as well. A few degrees might not seem like alot but it is when it comes to different grades of steel. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents...

Hi Dave, you are correct. Most people don't sharpen their knives at all. The Lansky turn box is inexpensive and easy to use. That's why I recommend it. The turn box will give them a decent edge and they will be more likely to use it. I have the Lansky clamp system with diamond and ceramic stones. It takes a little more time to set up but I get a great edge. A lot of guys will spend $200.00 or more on a good knife and won't spend $20.00 to keep it sharp. Thanks, Mickey

The Cuda blade was quite a bit sharper than the Bubba blade, but that is not detrimental to the knife. You could just see on different cuts the ease of cutting with the Cuda. I have seen Bubba blades that sharp. To me it would be $50 vs $13 or four knives instead of one to lose..

Thanks a million for watching and asking a good question. Yes they were both sharpened, but sharpness was definitely not the issue at hand for this episode. I was concentrating on the overall construction, feel, dexterity and flex parameters of the blades, along with giving an overall general review of what I thought about both knives. Both are sound companies with extensive manufacturing backgrounds, and they both have thier pros & cons. One just so happens to be less cost efficient because of a name.... @@fishingwithfisher1338 Let me get this straight…. you use it quite often, but haven’t sharpened it in 4 years… ?? Either it’s a extremely dull or you just open mail with it. 😂😂 It’s made from 8CR13MOV stainless steel From the net… 8Cr13MoV is a low-end Chinese-Made Stainless Steel similar to the Japanese AUS 8, It belongs to the CR13 series, highly in Carbon, Chromium, it’s used for knives, many knife makers use it and some of it made the best of it (I m talking bout Spyderco). And Bubba is a far cry from spyderco. 😂😂 They claim 56-58 Rockwell. So it’s decent on hardness. But it’s still not premium steel, even the best super exotic steels won’t hold an edge for 4 years with any type of real use. With that said, I’m not doubting Bubba knives are crappy, but your story is on par with the forever sharp samurai sword myths.
