Thank you so much for your kind comment! I did a lot more when I first started, but I've kind of gone to signing the back unless specifically requested by a client. Girl! This is so beautiful! Love using water, alcohol, and salt for texture and interest, too. And the Signo pen is the best white gel pen. Dr Ph Martin MBP white and non-acrylic gouache are great, but can’t beat pen form sometimes. I’m still learning, as well, and boy is there so much to learn with watercolors! I love this medium, but use to be scared too death of it as an acrylic artist. Great tutorial! Subscribed ❤
@kindredsoulart2111 Жыл бұрын
Omg thank you so much! Yes, those are great techniques, and the parchment paper/saran wrap texture tricks are really fun for this one, too! And HARD AGREE on the Signo pens, they are so opaque and I like that you can still wet the edges and fade them out. I think every artist will always be learning, and expanding into watercolor will help magnify your vocabulary in acrylic, too! The thing I love best in watercolor is that because the watercolor has a mind of its own, it allows you to have a conversation with your paint, rather than just always having to tell your paint what to do. It's so fun!
@urban_fox4658 Жыл бұрын
@@kindredsoulart2111 I really like that mindset - having a conversation with your paint instead of always telling it what to do. I’m going to remember that for the rest of my life, Girl! Because to have a healthy conversation, you have to listen and respect what the other person is saying, allowing them to freely express themselves without fear of judgment. We may not like or agree with what someone is saying, we may not even understand them (a GREAT analogy for watercolor conversations sometimes!! 😂), but it’s not our job to CONTROL or change them. I’m going to start letting watercolor do its thing without fussing (too much) Lol; of course, we can gently guide it where necessary, to keep boundaries clear - like with any good relationship. 😉 Thank you!!

@kindredsoulart2111 Жыл бұрын
It works so great for Christmas balls! You can totally use gouache paint for it, but it may not give as much depth because the paint isn't as transparent and may not spread as easily for the background. But you can get a little of the fading translucency by adding more water to the gouache when you make the bubble streaks.

"Instead of strictly focusing on a technical analysis of what you're looking at, try looking at it in terms of what it feels like....try to memorize the feeling of what the shapes look like. I feel like it helps your intuitive sense because you are relying on ***feelings which can store a lot more information** than what you might be able to memorize in a more technical way" - this is brilliant and beautiful! Right here…some of the bubbles or staying behind, and some going on top, how do you determine which will be in background and which in the foreground?
@kindredsoulart2111 Жыл бұрын
I am not sure I think consciously about which ones should go on top, but I kind of let my painting tell me which would feel better. Since the bubbles have some transparency, sometimes you can get away with switching which one is on top when you get a little bit later into the painting. I would say the white highlights are the strongest indicator of showing which one you want to go on top.

New to watercolor, but i do have some experience with calligraphy brushes (㊗️). Have you ever used one with watercolor instead of ink?
@kindredsoulart2111 Жыл бұрын
That's so awesome! I have a few calligraphy brushes that I had purchased when I lived in China, but I was really poor so they weren't very good quality, but there are ink-based watercolors (like Dr. Martin brand) that may work really well with those types of brushes since they are originally designed for ink. You could use them for watercolor, too, but might enjoy the familiarity of the ink consistency with the experience you already have!
