That’s really cool. It’s very similar to what we do in gardening when we make compost tea; you’re making slurry tea. The aeration will significantly increase your microbial activity and make it SUPER SLURRY! I’m looking forward to seeing the impact on the grass this coming season. Awesome job, Tom and Co.

Nabors family down the road split because the one sone wanted to update the farm simple things that would have saved money but the old man refused even the slightest change. I to also must battle with my parents about the small things, like insulating the water containers for the animals so the heaters work less. 3 years talking into on that project. already the power bills been cut by a quarter and all i have used is scrap around the property. Half rotten insulation form a fallen over chicken coop. ZERO expense to the farm on my part and yet they act like i have taken out a second mortgage.

It is so interesting what goes into farming. Watching these videos i find so factual and and amazed how much goes behind the scene and the science behind feeding the cows, sorting the slurry, the grass growing for the cows to eat and the crops that they grow for the silage. I didn’t realise until watching these videos how much effort that farmers put into everyday farming. I have even more respect for farmers, I’ve always respected farmers and how hard they work but I have even more respect now.

What a great solution. when you had the slurry mixed last time I suggested there must be something that you could do daily to stop the crust, I suggest putting motors outside with augers inside that moved it... but what you have found it so so much better.. glad you found a solution.. actually surprised its not installed on all slurry with it lowering the Nitrogen that much

Who knew looking at a pit of slurry could be so interesting. In composting, there’s a difference between anaerobic and aerobic bacteria and it would seem that besides keeping it mixed the air bubbling through it would be beneficial by keeping it aerobic as well. Good way to help the farm at any rate.

For awhile, I used to work in the wastewater industry. What folks don’t realize, is that the whole process of converting waste into clean, safe water, is a totally natural process that is sped up, by keeping everything stirred and aerated. Aerobic bacteria (“slurry bugs”) in Tom’s slurry tower, are closely related to the ones that break down household wastewater; they reduce the methane emissions as well as make the nitrogen more available to the grass in your fields. A single batch of those slurry bigs, will easily spread throughout your entire slurry system, and keep being effective going forward. The Ginger Warrior is so correct - this feeds the soil and benefits the farm for years into the future.

We use these for wastewater treatment they're aeration basins. 1 tank can hold well over 3000 diffusers ( where the air releases) we also still use bugs to help break down any material that makes it that far through the system. Your tanks tiny compared to some I've been in but all city's have a wwtp and all still use bugs for break down. Great video keep um coming.

Hi Tom, picking up on your concern about having your pump damaged. Do you still have all those surplus tire's. . There is a farm by us that has them built up on the corners of there barns, buildings all around the base of the slurry tank to a height of about five feet. I am assuming it is to stop trailers damaging the buildings, when they turn a bit to tight . Might be worth you thinking of using them.🤔👍😉

We have our slurry ponds in the ground in the states. I think this would be a good option for the dairy's here. Most I've seen only have 3 agitators going at a time, at some. Many need to do something to reduce the horrible odor. I'm sure by now Rhys has recovered but prayers 🙏 for his full recovery. Another great video.

No longer allowed in Europe as seepage into streams or rivers causes environmental disaster. I know many farms are nowhere near watercourses in US so maybe not so much a problem

@@thetessellater9163 we still have many that are. It's amazing (me) to see how many in the US don't find better ways to do their run off or slurry ponds. But you think they'd find safer/better ways. There are some pig farms that have covered their slurry ponds to catch & use the methane gasses to use for other thing's, which thought was cool. But those are very few.

The next stage will be a digestion plant to make gas to run a generator that powers the plant and the surplus reduces the power usage from the grid. You could even tank in slurry from other farms for a fee.

Next step for slurry is to add storage, so you only spread at the ideal times in the year? Get the maximum value out of the slurry by spreading it in spring and summer, and not during wet autumn/winter months. Can you add one more ring on top of the tower for example? trouble with air is that it takes the route of least resistance. At some point I suspect that slurry will block exits from the many nozzles, especially if you allow the rubber to degrade. In the meantime and hopefully for a few years you will, at last, get use of the full capacity of your storage tower.

Big like from Australia, we are caught with rising fertiliser prices 63% rise on P ,104% on K and over 120% rise N. There’s been a round of effluent upgrades in our area and with the money being spent this aeration could definitely be a game changer
