@susanthompson97734 ай бұрын
It’s not straight forward, and you do hear of de-transitioners (which is a really hard thing to go through, especially if they’ve had surgery or sterilisation etc). Transgender people are also more likely to be autistic, or have experienced severe trauma eg sxual abuse, which can complicate things and make it harder to work out if they are actually trans or if they’re actually not (there are de-transitioners who fall into these categories) The massive push by some to allow people to start medically transitioning very quickly after they initially approach a doctor, and trying to downplay the autism links etc, is extremely unhelpful and can be harmful to the patient. There needs to be a lot of discussion and very careful consideration before allowing someone to make life changing and potentially irreversible decisions regarding transitioning.

@lokialutt3445 Жыл бұрын
It's not that it's too late. It's that going through puberty that doesn't align with the gender you identify with. Puberty was when my depression and self harm really peaked. The dysphoria was literally killing me. I still don't know how I survived long enough to transition. I know many Trans kids don't when they are denied gender affirming care. Its fucking shitty. I knew I was a girl when I was four. And I'm still undoing the damage of 30 plus years of suppressing my true gender.
@nefaristo Жыл бұрын
@@lokialutt3445 I was strictly talking about the aesthetical results in fact, but ok: first of all, I don't know how I survived long enough to get through adolescence, with other difficulties then gender dysphoria + ... Simply being that age. It's not by chance that one of the peaks of depression and suicide is there in that bunch of years, anyway. Gd is only one of the elements making things worse. Second, I understand transitioning is not a silver bullet for the severe discomfort brought by gd, interventions bring other psychophysical problems and things get better gradually... Which typically overlaps with the great anti depressant that is growing up🙂... I don't know of any study disentangling the good effects of transitioning vs growing up (aka, controlling for age). Third, and most important: since studies before this fake trans fad showed that at least 80% of the times dysphoria in children fades, mostly towards homosexuality, and children and adolescents reports are typically not reliable, you cause way more pain with irreversible processes than by delaying them. I'm talking about minors, I'm all for adults transitioning after some serious screening, in fact I should be for health systems to pay for it in countries with public health system. I know that if you're in that minority of actual trans people , real and "reliable" gd seems obvious to you. In retrospect.

@Foxikaze when we talk about medical transitioning for children we aren't talking about anything irreversible. Puberty blockers are reversible. Hopefully- and I believe strongly, eventually- people will come to hear, understand, and acknowledge Buck & Co.’s wisdom + experience. Yes, I did just say HUA and I’m pro LGBT and not Christian and also not American but still bi and a veteran 🙄 Nothing more cringey than woke kids my age in high level college classes telling me they know more about a woman’s experience in the military or as a first gen immigrant or as a completely independent person from the second of legal age (but really before that for years just not emancipated) or as a person who actually experienced serious trauma and abuse with zero aid or intervention from a young age WHEN…… They literally have zero experience, are not in the military, are living with their parents, don’t work or support themselves, and have never experienced trauma. But in their kind and loving nature, when a REAL “victim” (I put it in quotations bc that’s what I was not what I am), speaks to them, they verbally abuse me and gaslight me IN PUBLIC, IN A FEMINISM AND GENDER STUDIES CLASS IN THE ONLINE CHAT for everyone to see. I have no respect for fellow women who abandon the real cause of equality for belonging or superiority. I’ve seen it in the military when women pretend they don’t see their female peers being abused or harassed bc they want to avoid bullying or harassment by crapping on women and pretending to themselves they are “one of the guys”. You are not a guy, and if you genuinely believe in equality and you put a predatory man’s interests above your own principles…. Sorry B. You aren’t my fellow female, you aren’t community or a friend, you aren’t a legit “activist”, you aren’t a whole grown woman, and don’t you dare tell me that my actual knowledge and life and experience is invalid because of your protected classroom hypothesized BS while telling me you’re a feminist. This isn't an unrelated parallel, with people being trans-species, trans-age, etc. Liberals don't understand gender dysphoria for what it is, and refuse to see the insanity of forcing others to not only accept "who you are" but pay for you to become "who you are". Forgive me for not buying into the bullcrap.

@@barbaro267 I think grown adults can do this if they want. I don't want to pay for surgery and therapy and stuff, and I'm not going to jail if I use the wrong pronouns, but a grown person can do this if they want. It's clear from his life story that he never felt female from day one.

I really don’t get how anyone says children’s toys are ‘male’ or ‘female’. I’m a woman and we all (boys and girls) played with all toys and played all types of games, we never thought that if you liked such and such you have to be male or female. For me, being a woman is only about my anatomy and my own natural hormones. I don’t have to cut all my bits off or out, just because I like carpentry and don’t wear makeup

wow, yea I have a similar story in parts as a transwoman, my childhood, I didnt think about much but I was feminine, all my friends were girls, and I always thought there was no difference between girls and boys, people who thought other wise were weird to me. when sex segregated spaces came up, I felt so out of place, puberty hit and within a few years I knew it wasn’t for me and I couldn’t imagine continue living like that, and masculinizing. though i tried to make it stop, or wish I could be gay or bi or something I could hide from my family. And my dysphoria was largely sex dysphoria, so I do feel like I also vibe with transsexual
