I thought we were all supposed to be accepting of everyone, no matter who or what they are?! The people trying to silence anyone that feels they made the wrong choice & need to detransition are the biggest hypocrites alive. This needs to be discussed & accepted as a very real possibility. Detransitioning is going to be a lot more common, in the years to come, because of how people push transitioning into kids. Many of these kids are doing it as a trend or attention. Literally changing your sex, with medication & a lot of times serious surgeries, shouldn’t ever be taken lightly or a “trend”.

I’m a therapist. I grieve for this beautiful young woman. Young people who believe they are transgender NEED deep, skillful therapeutic care. If the emotional/psychological issues are addressed and resolved and the person still believes they are transgender, so be it. But so, so often, there are emotional/psychological issues - often in the family system - that are manifesting in the rejection of the self/the body. No one should make any decision in life - great or small - from a basis of self-hatred. This is consistent as I work with trans adolescents and their families: abject hatred of their femininity (for girls). This needs to be explored, not “fixed” by transitioning to male.

When I was a teen, I wanted to be male because I was bullied for not wearing make-up and being "feminine" enough. I also kept hearing about women having to wear high heels to work and just hated the thought so much. I'm honestly glad that was in the early 2000s, when we weren't as "woke". I might have made a terrible mistake I would still live to regret. I still almost never wear make-up and never have worn high heels in my life, but I don't want to be a man. I just want to be a woman who is not a stereotype. It mostly makes me mad and sad when they already label small kids as trans because they aren't a walking stereotype. Freud called this stage in a girl's development "penis envy," lol. He may have been right. Freud believed most women don't remember this stage because it is at about 2 or 3 years old and they repress those feelings. If the girl gets through this stage successfully she will accept her lack of a penis and when she grows up she will enter into a relationship with a man and he can "share" his penis with her through sex and marriage. If she doesn't get through this stage successfully, Freud thought it could cause her to become a lesbian.

So I agree with to a degree. As someone with bpd I can tell u when I tried to get rid of my meds cus "it's drugs!" I saw changes right away, therefore I couldn't function in therapy and could barely focus. And tbh it was recently. I didn't take them for a week and because of it, I couldn't get out of bed, it triggered my eating disorders and suicide thoughts. When I told it to my therapis he called my doctor, now I had 2 options in that moment either going to the hospital or keep on taking them and on time, and lemme talk u, the change was and is crazy it worked like magic, I started to see how much calmer I feel, I started talking more, and eating normally! It was the moment when it hit me how important medications are, and in way, underrated. U hear a lot of hate when it comes to that and a lot of horror stories about it, but like if u go a bit deeper u will find more ppl just like me. Obviously it's not an only fix but sometimes it should be the first option because when ur brain is unbalanced no amount of therapy could help (speaking from experience as I said) I DON'T THINK THERAPY ISNT GOOD! It's great and been helping me a lot! What I've learned from the recent weeks is that, the right combination between therapy and meds can be literly life saving!

I have had some trouble with being comfortable as a woman and I am STILL glad I never even discovered gender dysphoria as a teen. I don’t know if I would have been interested enough to do it but I would have obsessed over it, and now that I am an adult I am pretty happy with my life. I am married to a straight man, I am beautiful, and I have a son. Plus I have enough health problems to worry about. I also have a perspective in life that wouldn’t really approve transition as a solution and I would have regretted that for sure even if I liked presenting as a man instead. I think for me, I saw that my brother got more positive attention than I did, my dad was the nice parent, and I think I got the impression that life was better for boys than for girls. I related more to Simba, Little Foot and Aladdin than any Disney Princesses, etc, I liked boys’ adventures better than girls, and their role in society seemed more fun. In retrospect I think I am just broken, and I have a sort of repressed misogyny that says good girls are lame and not like me. I wanted to be the best I could be but it wasn’t working as a girl so I got anxious and wanted to be like my brother instead. I think a lot of these people who regret transition are like this, and what actually needs to be done is spiritual healing and probably some anxiety treatment

I really empathize with Elle- especially when she said she didn’t have to be a certain way to be a woman. Our situations seem similar. I’ve questioned my gender since I was about 10 years old. I’m now 18, and after a long time contemplating that I might be FTM, I realized that just because I am attracted to females, because I am not feminine, because I hate dresses and skirts, feel more comfortable in ‘masculine’ groups, my personal expression is gender non-conforming , etc. does NOT necessarily mean I am trans. I might be less feminine, but that doesn’t make me less of a female. I contemplated so many gender identities growing up in the midst of mental health issues and trauma. And now that I’m healing from my trauma and issues I realize that I don’t have to change to be accepted by myself or anyone else. I am who I am. I was so preoccupied by the idea of ‘boy vs girl’ I never took into consideration that it’s not that simple- every boy is not alike and neither is every girl. I wish I could’ve realized sooner, but I’m glad I finally realized, because I could’ve had to go through the stress and pain Elle is currently going through if I decided to transition when I was younger. My heart goes out to Elle (and Blaire too, she’s great). This was a nice video.

I am thinking that maybe you and your daughter might be able to agree to share/exchange stories(like this one here of Blaire's) which give info about your opposing viewpoints, with the goal being to open up discussion and to help your daughter to weigh the pros and cons as fully as possible before taking any life-altering action.

Perhaps if I was surrounded with the internet and groups of trans people I would have thought I was trans, because I was so impressionable. Blaire can you address the teachers pushing trans " education " to children. I have a very feminine 12 year old boy with asd, limited verbal skills, learning disabilities etc, that doesn't wear girls clothes ( I've never offered them either) but loves pink, long hair, and playing with girls. My son's teacher used him as an axample on a zoom lesson of a child pretransition so I stopped her mid lesson and removed my son and later she explained that she and my son had " talked" about it ( odd considering he's basically nonverbal but ok) and my son was a girl and I needed to let him be herself. I did go to children's services because I called it grooming but was denied help, the principal had my back sort-of and reprimanded her for being inappropriately involved but how many kids are learning they are trans from teachers? My son may choose his way as an adult but he's a child that had no idea or care about gender because he's disabled he just wants to play with his gal Pals because they are kinder than 12 year old boys, he's sensitive because he has a sensory processing disorder not gender dysphoria. How would that inferring have directed another child? I know other parents who have had similar interactions as alot of asd kids have undefined gender boundaries and it's scary

Regarding her voice!! Elle, and any other individual who is unhappy with their voice can go to a speech-language pathologist to change the pitch of their voice in a SAFE way! Trying to modify the pitch of your voice is very doable, but should be done with research based approaches and medically monitored with instrumental testing/imaging to avoid any kind of vocal injury! Talking outside of your fundamental frequency (the ideal pitch for your body) without the assistance of a professional (a speech-language pathologist) could lead to a bunch of voice disorders long term so it is better to seek the help of a medical professional instead of a vocal coach or voice actor! @Titant24 жыл бұрын
@@mikayla9501 In the past they used to teach children whom were left handed that they were stupid and forced them to write right handed. I see the treatment they use on children/teenagers/young adults and it is still literally that. You like many other kids are wired differently and to partake in this society you have to conform to the immesurably high standards/pressure society demands from you. So they make you fit in with drugs, instead of teaching you to learn from your own behaviour. I had mental issues myself and for me (not recommended for anyone that actually needs it), but for me i have refused treatment. Best decision i have ever made in my life, and you will learn when you are older that the ultimate contentment with the self comes when you are able to identify and articulate your own issues and deal with them. Focus on what you want to do and if you don't know figure it out or ask adults because we've all been there. You are at an age with a world of possibility ahead of you. And like me you might figure out that you never needed medication to begin with and that a lot of treatment for example for ADHD, mild autism, depression is being driven by the subscription pad, instead of helping by shaping them and make them understand themselves and their own behaviours. You'll be ok. I will say, that as a former ritalin user myself. It is completely ok if you need it (can't estimate your situation from here), it does have its uses for focussing (dose should never be more than 80 mg a day, if you are on 40 MG like i was that is completely ok). But feel free to quit as well. And at some point you will find out, you don't need it. Don't use it in the weekends and in the holidays, then go to a few classes without it. You might notice no difference at all.

You can be charged with a felony such as murder, robbery, assault in most states at age 12 and in some states as young as ten years. Why? Because the law says a person of that age has the ability to form the required reasoning to plan the crime and more importantly to understand exactly what they were doing. Further, and this is key, the law in most states says that children of the same age we are talking about when it comes to gender transformation have the mental ability to understand the consequences of their actions. So, if a young person can understand the consequences of being the getaway driver in a robbery, whey are they too young to understand the consequences of putting puberty on hold?
@SiobhanS18684 жыл бұрын
Yetanother Top i disagree with that though, children shouldn’t have to bear criminal responsibility at that age.
@yetanothertop4 жыл бұрын
@@SiobhanS1868 I agree with you. In some states, people as young as 14 can be charged as an adult for felony crimes. My point was that society has an odd view of what children can and cannot be responsible for. If a 16-year-old is late to school five times in some states the principal of the school and bend them over and spank them like a child. If the same 16-year-old gets mad about that and punches the principal in the face 2 seconds after the spanking is done, they can be charged as an adult for felony assault. We need to make up our minds about how much can a child reason and figure out the consequences of their actions. A 17-year-old boy can be told by his parents that they have decided to have him circumcised. There is nothing wrong with his penis nor foreskin - the parents have just decided they like the way a circumcised penis looks. No matter how much he protests, almost every urologist in the US would prescribe a Xanax for him to take before he leaves home, put him on a procedure table, and slice off his foreskin - even if he had told the urologist very loudly that he did not want it done. If that same 17-year-old came back the next day and trashed the urologist's office in revenge, he'd be charged as an adult in criminal court. We need to make up our minds.

I went threw that phase too. When I was 13 - 15 I strongly believed that I was bisexual & transgender. I wanted to go by “Damon,” wanted people to use They/Them pronouns, shaved my head, wore button ups, and at some point I even bought a chest binder. I also wanted to transition so bad and forced myself to like girls because that’s what Cis males did. I’m 18 now, have been dating a guy for 2 years and am a lot more feminine. I’m also much more comfortable with myself and my body. I know my “dysphoria” was because of my mom, she would always point out the growth of my chest and it made me really uncomfortable, so I would always try to hide it with male clothing.

I didn't identify with and disagreed with those views so much I began to think I wasn't a woman. It coincided with a time in my life filled with mental issues and uncertainty. Those two environments combined I believe is what caused me to really believe I wasn't a woman. Flash to now, and I have a much more healthy understanding of and love for my femininity. Currently in my country it's very strict and slow if you want to get it paid via social security. You need one or two different psychiatrist for up to a year to get the go for hormones from a doctor and I think you have to be an adult. At least a few years ago. This can be terrible especially for children. I totally get it, avoid the wrong puperty and the chance of beeing passable is so much higher... but when the psychiatrists or even not as qualified persons have a agenda and are one-sided, it just can go wrong. I'm not saying people who know they are trans since they are very young are mistaken, I'm just trying to communicate the importance of therapy and not rushing into medical transition as soon as you come out

Exactly. I know, after 4 years of knowing I'm trans, that starting T is the right thing for me. I'm 19, and will be almost 20 before I can start T, but I know I'm not trans because of some past trauma or because I don't feel like I can be a more masculine woman. I know I'm trans, and I'm glad to have waited. I don't think I could've started at 15 anyways, but I'm glad I didn't, in case I turned out to be a tomboy and not trans. It's important to wait and realize why you want to transition.

I empathize with Elle, she’s very brave sharing her mistakes so other can learn from it. Kids who think they are trans should wait til they are 18-20. Transitioning is not like finding out you are gay ie. ‘when you know you’re gay, you’re gay’. Because if in the future turns out you’re straight/bi instead, you can always go back, it isn’t that forgiving once you’ve transitioned. Trans folks, and I mean ALL trans folks should sit down with adults and think about their future. I personally think, if I- in the future want a kid of my own (in my 30-40s), I wouldn’t be able to if I transition at 12-15. I can WAIT til I’m 18-20, freeze my sperm/egg and save it. Transitioning is a decision with long term, irreversible effects, so please talk about it like it is, be patient, safe and careful.

I socially transitioned at 15 and medically transitioned at 17. I'm now in my 20's, I have a very different/more mature concept of my gender identity than I did back then; however, I wouldn't go back for anything in this world, as I probably would've ended my own life otherwise, it was an extremely disparaging time to exist. Perhaps it's not a matter of age (as age doesn't equal maturity), as it is a matter of personal intent in wanting to transition in the first place and the disparities we might face with our gender. Is it due to stigma? Social expectation? Or is it something more innate, like my case and many others', for example. Though I've always been mentally mature at a very young age, which could be another critical asset. The only thing I suggest is to not base it around age at all, it means nothing when people are so different from each other.

@@nibbatron6283 yes, I was very depressed, I think a discomfort can happen with oneself and you can misinterpret it in a way. I didn't like myself, or my body, for sexual abuse I endured very young. I think I just wanted to be someone else, so I didn't have to deal with that part of my life anymore. Everyone is different, I think medical transition should be a prescription, not entirely given out easily. I just signed informed consent papers, and was given hormones. I was so sure that was what I needed. It's really not a knock on anyone trans but I think the issue is more complex for some people. Even when I was so sure that transition was what I needed after living socially male for 5+ years. Using male restrooms and all lol. I think a lot of people need therapy, I never got it, but I think it could have helped me get through those issues without supressing them for so long. I think this just has to be said: having feminine characteristics doesn’t make you a woman and having masculine characteristics doesn’t make you a man. There’s much more to being a WOMAN than makeup, hair, and “girly things”. And there’s much more to being a MAN than “guy things”. If a little boy wants to play with doll, that doesn’t make him a girl. And just because a girl would rather play with a truck that doesn’t make her a boy. This twisted view of what make a man a man and a woman a woman has got to be the root cause of children transitioning at such a young age and ultimately regretting it.

@@ghevisartor6005 good question. I'm also wondering if persons NEED to change their physical characteristics to feel like a "woman"? Because being a woman is more than looking like one. @kayonahotgurl4 жыл бұрын
@Shyvana_x3 but that's the thing, physical changes to your body makes you "feel" like a woman but doesn't necessarily makes you a woman. I’m a mother of a trans man. For me personally, “dealing” with the reality of my child feeling miserable and so conflicted about who they were, was difficult. All I could see was this beautiful, talented person that was full of light. Always made us laugh. Someone who I was proud of and honestly wished I could have been more like at that age. I felt like such a failure when I learned that my oldest daughter was trans. Not because I’m close minded. Not because I’m transphobic or whatever people might think. But because I felt like I had not conveyed my love clearly enough or supported enough or just wasn’t there enough. Now the “child” I’ve raised and envisioned a future for , hates who they are and now, will no longer exist. At least that’s how I felt in that moment. It all sounds very selfish now. But for me, as a mom, it was almost like my child had died. Years have past now and I see things differently but my heat breaks and memories flood back to when I had a teenager that was going thru so much. Prayers to Elle. I was introduced to this channel a couple of years ago by my youngest daughter, for no reason other than Blaire’s world views. My daughter is heterosexual but has the maturity to see past labels and loves people just for who they are. I’m a new subscriber now. I’ve only watched from time to time. So maybe you’ve covered the topic....but do you often hear from the parents of trans men and women? What that experience was like for them too? I know there are support groups out there. I live in a well accepted LGBT community now but I didn’t previously. I just think it’s important to share, when family members “struggle” to accept the changes a trans family member goes thru, it doesn’t mean they don’t love them any less. As a mom, I just don’t want to see my “kids” hurting in any way, shape or form. And if we have the knowledge or experience it may be an easier adjustment for everyone. Sorry so long winded here!! 🙈 Thanks for all you are doing Blaire!! Appreciate you sharing this topic. ❤️

I saw it when I was a teen too, it's an age where people are trying to find out who they are and theres nothing wrong with that. BUT. I think its ridiculous that people do pressure others into "maybe your trans" when your at a point in your life where you are still very malleable and very prone to peer pressure. After all these people have had the courage to come out saying they're detransitioning I think we'll be more knowledgeable with how to handle these questions and how to help someone who feels this way.

I never cut my hair or transitioned but the thing I dislike when looking back on it is that she never really told me what transitioning can do to someone and didn't really talk about how people that were my age were sometimes detransitioning. She also never really talked about dysphoria either. Around the end of grade 9 or early into grade 10 I stopped feeling like I was trans and feeling like I was bi. It is always so embarrassing talking about this experience because I have never seen videos about people detransitioning and it always felt like something that isn't always talked about when it is something so important. And now I am seeing these kids a few years younger than me who are in grade 9 going through the same situation. They feel like they are trans or non binary and I don't know why this is happening. These kids are questioning but I really don't want them to do something that will impact their life negatively if they decide to transition. We should be more open about how people detransition definitely schools and counselors we need them to guide kids on the right path and make them make the best decisions. I feel like schools mostly elementary schools are only talking about the good side about being trans and not talking about what could go wrong

i agree that teens at a certain age shouldn't be able to decide for themselves that they should transition, but capping it off at 18 seems a little too far. i think at 16, someone could be sure about their identity and transition with a professional's help. they should be educated on what transgenderism is, they should have to go through a few months of therapy to diagnose them with dysphoria, and they shouldn't start hormones 3 days after they come out, but making them wait until 18 doesn't feel right. the rate of detransitioning is actually very low. the people that regret it probably didn't have to go through all of the checks that they should have (not having dysphoria, not being educated).

I'm hardly affected by peer pressure and I'm very open about being yourself, especially around others to make my peers feel more comfortable with themselves, and I was bullied for a reason unrelated to me. As for changes, I hate the changes that are going on. They were gradual, but wow, I can't stand my curves and my chest and my small arms and even my privates. I had depression at like 12-15, and still have ADHD and anxiety, and I've lost a lot of people in my life. I wonder if some of the people that get triggered over the topic of detransitioning might have underlying doubt..would explain why they attack it so much. Just adding to the conversation
@babysis6.0592 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what it is, and not just doubt, there must be a whole lot of them who regret going through the process and don't want to admit it, I predict that more people will come forward and denounce the whole experience
@Ben-li9zb2 жыл бұрын
That's very true, I and other trans people haven't felt any discomfort at the mention of detransitioners (unless its an attempt to invalidate trans people existing) if it genuinely makes you unhappy to here about it, there might be some things you need to work through

The Entire LGTB movement is that way. Far to much "pride". It's overcompensating

@@smalltownhomesteadAC it's compensating for the hate directed at them from parts of society. I'd say its pretty proportional, even undercompensating

A trans person feeling personally attacked by someones decision to no longer be trans is the most 2019 thing I have ever heard. So much hate.

AddAustin you’d have to really be insecure about your transition if you get offended by someone who is detransitioning
@calliemyersbuchanan64584 жыл бұрын
Mary Katharine Ham It's because there is a misconception of their message. They are saying "don't make my mistake", not "don't transition". And if you (royal you, not necessarily you Mary) have a hard time seeing the difference in those two statements, that right there is why the offense is taken.

@LaVioletaAmatista There is no "transphobia." People who disagree with the whole trans thing are not phobic. Difference of opinion is not "transphobic." We seriously need to just delete this "phobia" word. People are missusing it so hard nowadays. Its the new buzzword. Everyone has a phobia nowadays. Insert your group you relate to and add phobia and claim everyone who disagrees with you have it. The fucking logic of today.
@seasonsgreetings27074 жыл бұрын
LaVioletaAmatista of course some people who dont like trans people can use it as an excuse to show that transitioning is not a good idea, but it doesn’t change the fact that some people really do regret it and shouldn’t be hated for that. They made a major mistake that changed their lives so i think its unjust to them to be bashed by the trans community (not all of course) because of it
@lockofmetal88944 жыл бұрын
@LaVioletaAmatista Was that entire rant a definition or did you throw in some of your own spices at the end? If the first, then this person has some irl issues. Im no homophobe, idc who they sleep with honestly. Your definition of transphobe basically seems to just include "do you disagree with trans people?" If your answere is anything but "no" then you are transphobe. I simply do not agree with how people see trans as a positive and good thing. And if you read my comments you should see links to said sources ive come with that would back up my statements. If not i can include them here if you'd like. And you're very welcome to look at my older comments, it's a bit weird and kinda stalker behaviour but im fine with that, i stand for what i say. I do not discriminate these people whatsoever, i simply do not think "trans" is a healthy idea. It seems to stem from a mental health issue, in which case i see it far more productive to cure said illness, than to do what said illness wants. I've also made comparison to BIID, which i've taken from studies done by psychiatrists. Heres what i believe case in point. If you think thats "transphobic" then so fucking be it, i don't care about your buzzwords, they are irrelevant to me. Go and "reeee" somewhere else.

"My puberty was medicalized" omg I think that's a very accurate statement for many young teenagers right now who struggle with the same question about their own identity. And how it's a risk when you are with the wrong doctors who diagnose incorrectly.
@insomniacraccoon4 жыл бұрын
It's sad, because I had the opposite experience. I have depression, anxiety, and narcolepsy. Puberty and my years as a teen were hell. Doctors told me to suck it up and just get over it. That being tired 24/7 and sleeping 15+ hours a day was just 'normal teen behavior'. That I was just acting out from hormones when I'd have panic attacks and mental breaks. Doctors (most of them) just don't care.

Forget the wrong doctors.....what about having the wrong parents? Having a trans kid is seemingly a badge of honour now. It's not just a trans issue, it's a whatever it takes to stand out issue. I read a story yesterday of a mother who has set up an Instagram account for her TODDLER. What kind of parent does that? Apparently the kid has 100K followers already.

We are living through an era of criminal medical practice. My hope, and I'm absolutely certain the day will come, that the people who have engaged in these actions will be prosecuted. They have PREYED on children and the bunk science they used to justify their greed was obvious to everyone with even a shred of ethical conciousness.
