I have a few of the Buck 371 Stockman knives, all but one made oversees. Some are jig bone and some are the dark Buck wood. All have strong back springs, good fit and finish, and are really very sharp out of the box. The 371 is an excellent choice for an everyday carry slipjoint pocket knife. Rock solid for about $25. Thanks for your review.

I got a Buck Trio 301, which is basically a mini-stockman. Got it for about $20 from CKW. I'm sure it doesn't come close to the 371, but the thing I have learned about Buck stockmans, they put the sheepsfoot blade on the opposite side from where most stockmans have it. The benefit, according to Tom at Knife Delights, is that the utility blade is supported by two backsprings and give it more of a true, sturdy cut. Love your Buck content. As a decidedly untired tiger of the cartoon persuasion said, it's grrrrrrrrreeat!

Buck needs the less expensive knives from China to sell in the discount and big box stores. They need the volume of sales when the margins are low. Nice review & beautiful knife.

If it wasn’t for “Made in China”, I wouldn’t have any knives at all! Other than a handful of Case knives, I have about sixty knives “Made in China”. Keep in mind that it is USA knife companies that have designed all of the knives in my collection but contract with China companies to produce them. To buy “Made in America” knives you must be willing to fund the American knife craft person’s mortgage, car payment, annual vacations, and college tuition for their kids just to name a few things. I’m tired of the “Made in China” bashing! Our country opened relations with China back in the seventies. Greedy American companies rushed in to cash in on cheap Chinese labor. Fine! That’s business and I’ve got a buttload of very nice and sturdy crafted knives and the American knife retailers are swimming in cash.
