I have this very knife,... one of my all time favorites !!! My first Buck was a 110 folding hunter I bought in 1971. The folding 110 changed the knife world. I'm on #2, gonna send in first one to Buck, not much blade left, but has so much sentimental value, was on my belt everyday for 20 years. Second 110 is on my belt now. When I hit the woods, this is the one on my belt, & the #55 Baby Buck is my pocket knife, never leave home without it. Love my Bucks !

This thing is the most beautiful knife I have ever laid my sleep-ridden eyes on. Swings, cuts, and skins like a dream. If you don't mind spending a little more money get this rather than the normal edition, this one is a lot prettier.

Buck 119--where beauty and utility come together in one.
@rogerlawson45167 жыл бұрын
My Buck 119 was made in 1971 or 1972. My uncle carried it two tours of duty over seas. Vietnam in 1972 and South Korea a little later. One of my favorites. Now retired in a vault.

The buck 119 would've been the best knives made if they would've added a sharpening stone attached to the sheath. They are truly American classics. Every American outdoorsman should own one of these. I carry one with the 110 folder right behind the 119. That's how important knives are out in the woods. If I'm in town I have just the 110. Yours with wooden handle is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing and God bless 🇺🇸

I love Buck knives and have three models of their knives and they are wonderful. The model 119 was the last one purchased last month with my name on the blade from their store. I got that knife since the first 119 was given to my grandfather not long after buying it decades ago.

I just bought this knife with the same gorgeous handle. I'm almost afraid to take it camping this summer because it looks like it belongs in a presentation case. And you are right - it is a good looking sheath. In fact, its the best I have seen.

Hi Bib, I started off with a Buck Knife, my first one was a Caping Knife but I used it as my hunting knife, just the other day I bought the phenolic handle model 119 special, by its marking the arrow faces up and it was made in 2008 but in near perfect condition other than if you look close it was probably used at the shop to see how sharp it was very, very slight marks, but near perfect condition, I was impressed on the reviews about the knife, buy the way the black phenolic handle knife is 7.5 oz. But after seeing your video with this beautiful looking knife in Cocobolo I think I want one. Thanx for reviewing this knife.

@EnduringEagle Similar, but this is a more general duty knife while the Kalinga leans more toward hunting. They are both great knives but I think the Kalinga is a little more knife and personally, I prefer it. Nevertheless, if it was a camp knife or all around knife I was looking for and I had the two choices, I would pick the 119.

That's a gorgeous knife, but I gotta admit...I actually prefer the black and nickel. In fact, with my next paycheck I'm picking one of those up, along with a Buck 110 from their Custom Shop.

@Shark0828 I tend to think of those two knives as holding different ground in the knife landscape. When I think of the Buck 119 I think of hunting but when I think of the KaBar I tend to think of tactical and utility. That doesn't mean either knife couldn't stand in for the other, but I don't see them as competing for the same jobs. As for which is "better", they are both high quality knives. I can't se you going wrong with either choice.

If it was me I would use a clamp system like Lansky or Blademanster. There is a flat spot near the spine which can be clamped to, and the hone would do great work.

I guess it depends on your boots, but this is not a knife typically carried that way. Boot knives usually have a slim, straight, dagger type build. Often the sheath has a clip allowing it to be clipped on the inside of a boot. Some people wear folding knives in the boot using the pocket clip. I have never seen anyone wear a knife like this in a boot.

@J88Wolf yeah the bear grylls so called 'ultimate knife' is hooey, in my opinion. would never buy one- I'd sooner get this as you say, or a mora for less than half the price, then add a better sheath and a firesteel myself and still come out on top. this is a gorgeous knife, I have the regular buck 119 with the phenolic handle, sadly, it looks very sad next to this (hahaha)

full tang or not ?
@maccap738810 жыл бұрын
It is, i just got mine in the mail and at the end of the pommel you can see the pin that goes through the tang in the handle.. i dont know why some people on some of these channels are trying to say this knife is not full tang,
@presterjohn7110 жыл бұрын
MAC Cap It is not in the proper sense a full tang knife. It is a rats tail knife. When people refer to a full tang knife they are talking about a tang that stays more or less the same size and has scales bolted on to it rather than inserted and pinned.
@AirSofter24110 жыл бұрын
presterjohn71 I don't know if it's different for the cocobolo model, but I know a guy who had the regular one and he actually emailed Buck about it and they said it's a rat tail that goes about three quarters down the handle. So basically no, it's not a legitimate full tang.
@cogitaretoo9 жыл бұрын
AirSofter241 I don't know who at Buck would've said that. If you do a Google search for "Buck 119 tang," you'll see blow-apart photos of the 119 that show the tang going all the way to the pommel.
@valrup20669 жыл бұрын
+Bob Witt, hey Bob, you sound like u know your knives so where is the balance point on the cocobolo version?? I have the other 119 version and the balance is just behind the guard, thinking about buying this model but fear the balance will be handle heavy as its 3 ounzes heavier than the standard version, let me know if you cam.cheers

Who cares? A tactical knife has a whole bunch of bells a whistles to it which is why its "tactical" but he meant it could be used in a survival situation or a " tactical" situation

I Can't afford it ,so I bought a 30 dollar "Elk Ridge" short Bowie,SAME size as Buck 119
@BushcraftBritannia11 жыл бұрын
it either is a tactical knife or it isn't. It can't really "function as a tactical knife" as a tactical knife is a style of knife, not a use.
