Lard slices are popular in Slovenia. More otside Ljubljana then in it. They come in many forms. Most popular is the one coated with paprika on the sides. And yes...it must be served cold.

As a slovenian I see that most of "food tourists" visits ljubljana city centre along river and bled. That's quite a mistake, because as far as I saw it's most tourist traps. It's nice place to visit for sure, but if you want to taste some real food you need to go outside tourist areas.
@BucketListTravellers7 ай бұрын
Hi @kravselj, you raise an good point. Unfortunately for us, we didn't have too many days to spend in Slovenia, but would love to take the time to see more of the country next time. Which areas would you recommend we visit outside of the main tourist areas?

Just curious, why not put AUD in your videos?
@BucketListTravellers7 ай бұрын
Good question! The majority of our viewers are from the USA and we don't have many Aussie viewers funnily enough. Furthermore, it tends to be more readily understood by viewers in multiple countries. We have Australian vlogs now and definitely put AUD in those!

As a slovenian who lives in Ljubljana, I must say that I hardly ever eat any of these dishes or at any of these places. :P
@BucketListTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Hi Saavik256, thanks for watching. What dishes and restaurants in Ljubljana would you recommend visitors go to?
@Saavik2562 жыл бұрын
@@BucketListTravellers I'm a simple guy and a lot of places in the old town are, let's be honest, a bit of tourist traps. As I have not really left my home in the past few years, I don't really know what's still open, but one place I would definitely recommend is "Gostina pod Rožnikom" which, while probably comparable to old town, actually delivers super well. :) As for dishes ... depends really on what kind of food you're into. They offer a lot of traditional dishes and a lot of worldwide selection. The staff there are friendly and won't bite if you ask. :)
@BucketListTravellers2 жыл бұрын
@@Saavik256 Yes we agree that there are a few tourist traps in the old town. We did however enjoy the places we went to and thought that the pricing was reasonable, especially the Michelin rated restaurants. Thanks for the suggestion. We loved Ljubljana and will definitely visit again.

Štruklji are NOT dumplings for fucks sake! The dough is STRECHED to very thin sheet, rolled tight and put in tin foil or traditionally in cloth and cooked in boiling water, than they are cut to portions!

Hi Zagica, thanks for watching the video and taking the time to write a comment. We would appreciate that you keep your comments civil on our channel please. We agree with you that it not typically what comes to mind as a dumpling. We research food prior to vlogging and in this instance that it had been described a number of times as a dumpling, see here for example: jernejkitchen.com/recipes/cheese-dumplings-struklji .
