If this is what a Buckeye defense looks like after a bye week, I pray we will never have another. I don’t live for sacks, but we need Jack and JT to flash on a much more frequent and consistent basis (especially JT - voted most likely NOT to live up to the hype). We need the front 4 to cause many more “havoc plays.” James Laurinaitis needs to fire up that linebacker room! Mediocre and invisible won’t cut it against Oregon, TCUN, or any future playoff team. FYI: Jay Fielding there are only 2 types of acceptable kickoffs out of our kicker (out of the end zone and onside kickoffs). Plus a muffed punt that only a penalty saved a catastrophic scenario. Yes, we won 49-14, but it was couple steps back on defense and special teams. Time to REALLY “tighten up the ship” and start practicing some serious attention to detail and fundamentals.

We will see what happens when OSU has to actually play somebody and hopefully the players arent on cruise control from half a season of playing easy competition including in conference play. Supposed 5-stars JTT & Jack Sawyer have no Hips, are linear straight line Pass Rushers who are mid-round draft picks who we overpaid as if their aspiring 1st rounders. Saban knows. There is no Franchise Player on this Defensive Line. Tyliek is Very Good but not Great, and JTT & Sawyer both totally overrated. LBs are a problem but hopefully they’ll develop this season. Otherwise we’re Fuxxed. Same with DL depth. Not sure about DBs against Elite Teams. Only Caleb Downs is Proven Stud. On Offense, Will Howard is nothing great. He is good enough to beat most teams he will play, but no contest against Elite Teams. He can’t throw deep balls in sync with receivers. Due to Will Howard, Ryan Williams looks better than Jeremiah Smith. You guys even think our OL is close to Texas or Alabama or Georgia when fully healthy, I don’t. Ohio State is not Elite other than the 2 RBs and maybe WRs. Why can’t JJ create space against DBs like Ryan Williams does, I think it’s because QB can’t place the ball with velocity and precision.
