This dear man about 7 or 8 years ago taught me how to haft an axe. You have to give credit where it is due. This fella was working in conditions that were not good. He was working in the breezeway in extremely cold conditions. He always had a smile on his face. That was back in the day when Cleetus and a few other characters would show up unexpectedly and have you rolling on the floor by the time they left! I am grateful that Billy Ray would always take the time to explain everything he did while hanging an axe or for that matter anything he was working on. Have you ever found a better teacher than Buckin? Whether it is filing a saw or sinking a wedge he would drill it into your brain by repeating the process over and over again until it just became natural for you. So thankl you for your patience and kindness while teaching us Buckin. You are one of a kind and I just wanted to tell you thank you and that I love you brother!

Oh, I drool for a Tassie. But my game changer was a 4 lb. Warren on a 32" hickory, bent. DESTROYS wood, and begs for more. Only ax I own that takes apart twisted maple rounds first off the stump. Nothing else I own dares stand in its shadow. Until I Tassie up, the Warren'll do! Gorgeous bi-color, "chromy" dappled through splotchy dark gray, very much like the one you're handing here. But Dayton pattern. (But maybe, someday, a Wood Bullet!). Just saying, I share your excitement! (Probably like all the other viewers gathered here).

All hardwood here for me in Yorkshire Dales, its not often im felling softwoods. Respect to you bud i get exactly the buzz you feel about a beautiful axe.

@jackcampbell3133

Well most double bit axes are not made for splitting wood they are generally used for chopping down trees. Single bit axes are used for splitting because if you stick the blade you can hammer it through with a sledge like a wedge
