My '04 Solara 3.3 has done the hesitation-bucking-jerking since day one. Stomp the gas and it takes at least half a second for the engine to take off. Driving uphill, even a small incline, about 35 mph and it bucks & jerks like the transmission just broke. Took it back to the dealer several times and they could not fix. Just learned to live with it because even with this issue, the car has been amazing. Would buy another if they still made them.

Thank you for this video! I thought that the diagnosis would be the transmission, but it was exactly what you stated in this video. The car runs beautifully now. I see that the following parts were purchased for the repair via the receipt: valve cover gasket set, spark plugs and ignition coil assembly. The mechanic explained to me that when a car has this issue, it obstructs the transmission from getting into gear properly. Be well!

2000 Lincoln Towncar----- at 69K miles replaced all spark plugs and changed 8 coil: 81K miles changed 7 coil: 83K miles #6 coil and plug: 90K Coil #4: 91.1 K miles #1 Coil: 91.2 miles replace remaining coils and all new plugs: 118K miles #5 Plug and Coil. Fortunatley it was never the transmission. The bucking and jerking happened exactly as Willie describes.

Geeezus they should last atleast 50 thousand miles I would think! My 2003 town car is doing this I changed all the plugs and coil packs less than 20,000 miles ago with Motorcraft. Guess I'll do again cause yer spending about that just in an hour diagnose. No check engine light on by the way

What if I don't have a check engine light and I get jerking motions only happening when I go between 35 to 60pmh. It usually happens when I slow down to 34 then when I accelerate up to 40 and 60 it begins to jerk. Anyone have any ideas whether it could be my spark plugs or my transmission?

Likely the spark plugs. Go for the high end ones meant for your car. Not the very cheap one. Hard a similar experience. Ur check engine may flash once you go way above the 60mph

I got P0113 and it's a dirty fuel injector. This caused rough idle, hesitation and intermittent check engine. There are tons of videos here on how to clean injectors for cheap. If your car is GDI and has carbon buildup, clean the valves as well.

Start with the cheapest fix first. Air filter, fuel filter, vacuum leak fixes can be a free fix and one thing people overlook a lot is the gas cap, the cap has to let air in the tank, but not out. If the tank cannot vent,(let air in) the car will run bad and in some cases, like what happened to my car, I had no engine light. I spent a lot of money chasing a intermittent problem, I bought a 12$ gas cap and my problem was solved

Just want to chime in and say that a clogged catalytic converter was my problem. How did I know? My back seat got so hot that the gas was boiling in the tank and you could hear it! In other words, the exhaust heats up like mad when the flow is restricted and it heated up my back seat and gas tank.

So have a wierd problem. Alternator went bad had it replaced, I get the car back engine light comes on says cylinder 2 misfire true. So I swap that coil pack with another the misfire moves to the an other cylinder I think great easy one I replace the coil pack in the front,.. If it was a rear one hours and hours to get to. Wife drives car says engine light comes on and barely drivable. I read the code now cylinder 3 misfires. I clear the codes and notice when car starts out in morning transmission stutters just putting it into drive. I wait till the engine gets to temparture and it seems to shift fine. Now this car has been losing antifreeze, for years. no leaks. So worried it may be losing compression. Will have to do chemical test on coolant I guess to rule that out. Its funny how what I know is a poorly running engine could look like a transmission issue. So far been testing it out no engine code I make sure I wait in the morning for it to get to heat 1/2 on coolant gauge. I believe some coolant is slipping into the cylinder and the car running burns it up. Also radiator cap was bad I tested it would not open rated at 16 put in 20lbs would not open so put a new one in. I think that has been a huge problem for years.

My 2018 mitsubishi outlander jerks hard when accelerating back forth I've already changed plugs at the 80k mark seems to me my cvt is the issue no check engine lights no codes no reported miss I had every single fluid changed on it at 90k it has 93k. To me when I check the fluid on the cvt it never reaches the hot mark when I drive forever then it's below the cold mark did the dealer under fill it? Help! 2014 Toyota Corolla LE….when I come to a stop my car tries to lunge forward a bit and it makes a very noticeable vibrating/rumbling sound that signals something is clearly wrong. Then it’ll go away after around 5-10 seconds of just sitting their. It just started happening and it only happens in the mornings after my car has been parked all night. I’m usually in a hurry so I’ll be going like 45 mph down the road and come to a sudden stop at the stop sign is when I notice it. After driving around a bit it goes away and doesn’t happen at all. Hey! Just found you on here! Great video! I have a little bit a jerking around 45 mph. I have a 2006 Kia Sedona LX that I just got not too long ago from a good friend of mine. It's mostly going up hill. Sometimes it will even do some "bumping" like it's trying to go into 3rd or like it doesn't know whether to stay in 2nd or go to 3rd. If I push the gas pedal a little harder, it goes into "passing gear" and it's fine then. It does fine at all other speeds. The van has a little over 155,000 miles on it. What do you think it is?

My 2024 brand new Hyundai Tucson limited started jerking after 3 months of driving smoothly. Sometimes it seems like it even wants to speed up by itself. I took it to get checked out at the dealership. They said it's normal because it's a dual clutch transmission and because I also had an it in smart mode. I changed it to normal mode as suggested but it's still doing the same thing. When I have it in sports mode it doesn't seem to do so. It seems to provide much smoother without the jerking. I'm just wondering if I'm allowed to always drive it in sports mode? I'm wondering if this can be a lemon law case if they don't stop it from jerking?

So my fiance changed all the spark plugs and coil packs on our 2016 Mazda CX 5, and right after that, the car has been jerking, won't go past 40mph. He then took it to a dealer and told them what happened, and they said the engine is going out. Gave an estimate on the repair plus the part and was like "might as well get a new car." The issue I am having is with a 2010 nissan altima, drives fine until it reaches operating temp. No codes, start shuddering or jerking at 35-55mph after warmed up. only happens in gear of course. My sisters car, she said it started doing this after she was driving in a steeper hilly area and pushing the car up the hills moderately loaded down. When she pulled up to the place, the car was running. When they got through changing the oil. She went to start the car and it would not crank. Now they informed her that the car was low on oil. But that's not a reason y it shouldn't crank. It tries to crank but it won't turn over. She tried to get a boost off. And the car still wouldn't crank. Had to have to vehicle towed home. Explorer 3.5? Check cam position actuator solenoids, or timing chain, honestly explorers have alot of problems, I used to have the 3.5 twin turbo, got rid of it

You should’ve put it on the machine at auto zone first. He was telling you what’s possible. Always ask your mechanic, to make sure whatever you think the issue is with your vehicle, to make sure that is the real problem before they fix it.
