Great video Tim, Thanks. The guards are called the Queen's guards. They are usually chosen from 5 different regiments (Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish or Welsh). Beefeaters guard the Tower of London. The birds are rock doves (now called feral pigeons) which are smaller than seagulls & not related in any way, but still crap a lot.

Not from the UK though I would be very proud if I were! Just always fascinated with British history after all you are our mother country! The movie that got me started watching British history was the first I saw in a color TV!! It was Becket! After that I watched whatever I could. I also like The Tudors that I have watched on my Roku but my all time favorite series from quite a while ago is and was Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson! You can laugh but I have watched that series at least a dozen times - never tire of it. I have the DVD's now so can view when I please. You are a great representative of your countryand I so enjoy hearing your narratives and watching your videos!

Hello Paul. Just one important point. Be wary of the difference between 'history' and the current craze for 'historifiction'. The authors of "The Crown" are using actual historic events and personalities but the dialogue is 99% invention as what was said in private conversations between members of the RF behind closed doors is unknown.

The queen is under lockdown the same as us! I lived in London for many years and always thought it to be a very dirty city, the buildings are dirty and we moved out because I didn’t want to bring my children up in an area where kids were selling drugs on the street. Tim beefeaters and yeoman of the guard are in the Tower of London, the guards outside the palace are normally grenadiers, Welsh guardsmen, Irish guards as they rotate from time to time.

Beefeaters work at the tower of London. The Grenadiers are just one of the guards regiments of the British Army. The others are the Scots, Welsh, Irish and Coldstream guards

Just a note since the 90s Union Jack Flag on Buckingham Palace when the queen is not in Residence and the Royal Standard when she is in Residence previously no flag flew on Buckingham Palace when she was not there until Diana because people were upset

Badly kept secret - when dramas like The Crown and others need scenes inside Buckingham Palace, they actually use Lancaster House which is just across Green Park next to Clarence House and St James's Palace. Lancaster House belongs to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and apart from being a filming location, is an office for that department of Government. It is also used for major meetings. Just a few months ago a meeting was held there of finance ministers from around the world to discuss major global corporations paying tax (or not paying tax).

Tim The Victoria Memorial is a monument to Queen Victoria, located at the end of The Mall in London, and designed and executed by the sculptor (Sir) Thomas Brock. ... The central pylon of the memorial is of Pentelic marble, and individual statues are in Lasa marble and gilt bronze. At the top of the central pylon stands a gilded bronze Winged Victory, standing on a globe and with a victor's palm in one hand. Beneath her are personifications of Constancy, holding a compass with its needle pointing true north, and Courage, holding a club. Beneath these, on the eastern and western sides, are two eagles with wings outspread, representing Empire. The Union flag is flying but not the Monarch’s flag. The Queen is at Windsor. Beefeaters or Yeoman Guards are at The Tower. The Buckingham Palace guards are a different regiment.

the company that painted the queens gates is said to be the same company that painted the gates at Warrington town hall and that was reported by the Mayor of the town, i am 100% sure if the company was involved in the recent repaint of them at Warrington but i know doe sure that they did them in the 1970s repaint of the gates and the railings
