Buckland Abbey - Home of Sir Francis Drake

Sir Francis Drake was one of the most remarkable characters in the history of Great Britain. He was a gifted navigator and became the second person to circumnavigate the globe in 1580. He was also a privateer who attacked Spanish ships for Queen and country but mostly for the gold and treasure they carried. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth I. Drake was Vice Admiral of the English fleet that defeated the invading Spanish Armada in 1588. This video visits his home, Buckland Abbey near Plymouth in Devon. The abbey was a Cistercian monastery founded in 1278 but was seized when King Henry VIII broke with the Roman Catholic Church to form the Church of England.

A lot of my ancestors were from this area. The last abbot of buckland John toker is my 13th great uncle. Cool video!

Note to self, this is the association I have been persuing that would explain both how Oak Island tunnels were dug, and how, I speculate, Drake instructed them or others after the Money Pit and already been constructed and Spanish treasure buried. Evidence will be found in Drake's mortal remains within the"Chapel Vault" , a giant oak timbered rectangle whose roof was covered in plate iron, and covered there on with strong concrete who's contents have been lost to time, but will be studied upon that in time.
