We do the same thing with our kids and our turbo r. Just wanted to point out that you can take the back tether of the car seat and run it under where the stock seat latches (like a headrest). Then it hooks in the bed.

We have the aces racing youth seat for our 5 year old. We use rhe harnass over that and obviously his helmet. He is snug and secure as could be. Love being able to have him involved in our hobby and knowing that he is safe.

That’s awesome! It is super good to involve the little ones at an early age!

Great ideas on kids seats, trying to figure this out as well, just got an aces youth seat on the way, but we already own car seats should have tried that first I guess. what's that in your ear? hearing protection?

It’s actually just earbuds haha. I also have an Aces Racing seat and like that option as well 👍

Love the insight. Any thoughts on kids helmets? Recommendations?

It all depends on your applicable state laws. Most states require a DOT rated helmet and those tend to be heavy. Until your child has a strong enough neck to hold the helmet up over bumps I would say get the lightest helmet that meets your local requirements. 👍

What about if you crash and the kids head goes forward? That’s the real concern.

That’s a valid concern, we have used things like Helmet Hands and neck braces to mitigate that in the past. We also tend to just adjust our driving style when we have kiddos or Doggos, or actually anyone else in the car at all. Everyone has to decide on their acceptable level of risk though 👍
