Imagine COVID restrictions times 100 for years of your life not 3 but 6 7 Up to life. Not being able to see or talk to your friends whenever you want Not be able to visit your favorite pub or restaurant. Not being able to leave the place whenever you want. Any lick of bad behavior could be some sense of joy or freedom you have can be tooken away like your mom did but even worse. Punched your next cell neighbor? No access to the gym and no more play station. No more job. Punishment doesn't have to be whipping to be effective. Hell even non punishments like staying home while sick are punishments in themselves.

"They come in here bag of bones and go out fit as a fiddle" - isn't that a really good thing? Get themselves sorted. Also the one lady saying "It's too easy" - well it has the lowest reoffending rate in the prison system, so it works. Prison isn't about punishment, it's about rehabilitation, which is what this place seems to be doing well at.

Margo is just a bitter dried up walnut. She would find gloom on the brightest of days. She doesn't know how to be happy. Not happy with her attitude really, she's judgemental. The punishment was given in court, the prison should not punish, being removed from their home, family etc is the punishment. Prisons should focus on rehabilitation to ensure low recidivism rates and educate them and provide skills that can be transferred back to society, again lowering chances of reoffending. Countries like Finland and Norway also educate their inmates and support their skills and interests.

@@samanthakennedy4023 Many prisoners have no family or come from abusive backgrounds. That's how many criminals end up in the system. If they can get a free bed, food, paid work, an education etc then why not? They make many friends with all the social time that they have so why leave if there's nothing on the outside for them? If it was tougher they wouldn't want to keep coming back!
@wayne3093
@wayne3093 Жыл бұрын
@@thescrutineer7022 Make your mind up, are you writing about criminals or abused people with no family? You are saying that abused people and people with no family are criminals and everyone of them should be abused more while in prison. It takes many years to get over the mental torture of normal prison life and no one is ready to return to outside life and they reoffend because all they know is violence learned in prison. It has nothing to do with wanting a bed to sleep in or any other idiocy about reoffending rates. The worse you treat people in prison the worse they become because that's how you institutionalise people. Prison is the punishment and anything added to that is just sadistic natured authoritarian people flexing and who should be in the prison you speak of where abused people are abused even more and branded criminals.

My dad’s side is from the Isle of Man... But they owned the kipper factory and avoided the jail as far as I know. Looks like a pretty sweet gig though.

It's not the perfect system, but it does theoretically provide a better chance of rehabilitation. Hostile systems are counterproductive.

@@MS-zt2honot all of them are evil, like the staff said over here has some of the harshest sentences in the uk and tbh i can agree, a family member got 3-4 years for minor drug charges, and i domt find them evil? some people make mistakes and i know you have aswell, get a hold of yourself please, you could wind up in prison one day.

3:59 exactly. This is more of a vacation getaway than a jail. Female in a gym with males, allowed visits with each other without being married. I haven't seen anything to do with rehabilitation, as if it really works. Prisons, jails do not rehabilitate anyone, the person has to rehabilitate themselves.
