I live in central Oklahoma and ive never been hunting before but id love to go some day. How does a complete amateur go about a first hunt? What do i need to have setup before hand? How do i process the meat? How big does it need to be? How do you tell the difference between male and female? Does that matter?

I’d put a post on Facebook on a local Facebook page asking if anyone would be willing to take you out and show you the ropes, or go down to a local hunting store, ask friends. There’s always a way to find someone to help you out just gotta put the effort in. Best of luck to you.

big buck? i didn't see any on this episode. come up to canada if you want to shoot a big buck. we don't even put glass on a deer that small. we let them grow up. all jokes aside i get why you animals are so small down there, your population of hunter is far higher then canada and we have a lot more uninhabited land to hunt on. my best friend nd his wife are both in hunting magazines for the two public land bucks they have that are both over 200 inches non typical. you can pretty much drop a 170 every year within a half hour of home

I don't understand the camera work here. Missing the shot can be forgiven if the tree and other variables may have been blocking your view. It happens. But the entire time they're admiring the downed deer the audience is kept from seeing what they're so excited about. It seemed intentional. The guys are describing the great qualities of the buck, why not show us what they're seeing? I don't get it.
@Michaeldpress14 Жыл бұрын

Does anyone else wonder what they’re doing with the deer meat and feel kinda bad that they’re out killing more than they can eat? Even if they’re donating it or something they’re taking away opportunities for other people that don’t have the same means to do that. I’m conflicted with this series and I love meateater! I feel like you can go on hunting trips and and have fun but for the most part stay in your area! Or just take one. Seems greedy. Steven never made it look greedy or sport! He shows how hard it is and what it’s worth! He shows that he eats his kills and respects them! I don’t think I’ll watch this series anymore. I like the guys! Don’t get me wrong but the concept is counterintuitive to why I watch meateater!
@Michaeldpress14 Жыл бұрын
I guarantee they eat every bit of all the deer they kill . A family can go through several deer a year .

@@DaleGribbleMD when you’re living out of a truck while hunting it’s kinda hard to prepare a meal . Not everybody is Steve rinella with access to gourmet kitchens in every state 😂
@MrJRP1992 Жыл бұрын
No, no one else feels this way. These 2 hunting does not take opportunutes away from others. The meat is not going to waste, whether they eat it, the crew eats it, they give it to farmers who gave then permission to hunt, or they donate it, it's getting used. Also, stay in your area. What? Thats some of the most selfish "this is my woods, go back where you come from" shit i have ever heard. So in other words, if you are from an area with few hunting opportunites (like the eastern U.S. with no elk, moose, pronghorn, mulies, etc.) Too bad, don't come to my neck of the woods, these is my animals! This way of thinking is ass backwards and life way more difficult for us hunters than it needs to be. We already have to deal with the antihunting crowd messing with things, don't add to the mix.
@KassieRSmith Жыл бұрын
I can 100% guarantee that any meat he harvests is consumed by our family. Deer, elk, hog, turkey… you name it, we eat it.
