As an Oklahoma deer hunter, this is what we need to see. We understand you have the opportunity to have these incredible hunts and private land or have a guide and get put on some big game. This one is for the 99.9% of hunters out there that are just trying to put meat in the freezer and hope they have a good enough chance to come across a solid buck once in a while.
@elijahwalker-brian7599Ай бұрын
Couldn't have said it better myself man. I really needed this, makes me feel so much better about my situation and the hunts I go on and the deer available to me to take. It ain't always easy on sw Oklahoma public
@AnOKgardenerАй бұрын
A few good hunts shown here and I always love to see Oklahoma whitetails on YT. Obviously the state wants to lower the population, given this years tag/bag regulation, but it pains me a little to see two immature bucks taken by the same hunter, another spike shot by the other.

I needed this on a deep level. Hunting southwest oklahoma public aint easy, and to see accomplished hunters make mistakes, be real and have no shame in taking spikes and bucks with racks that arent what you see on the socials and have a hell of time doing it anyways makes me feel like im not all that bad. Thank you steve and tony
@4756howard10 күн бұрын
Amen! Social media has polluted many minds. Spikes and does are great and far more fill the experience of hunters’ great journeys than the once in a lifetime buck that so many think that have to achieve to be a good hunter. Show that to a young man or woman and they’ll think they’re not accomplishing much because of their lack of a trophy.

I agree, it is nice to see. But alot of the public land hunts out west is the kind of hunting that I do and it's nice to see guys who aren't out chasing monster elk and deer, and being relatable in the same kind of hunting I do is nice

The flyover shots look eerily similar to where I am hunting in central Texas. I am seeing deer on every 4-6 trips out, but I also didn’t get to do any scouting before the season opened up so I’m absolutely not complaining. I am currently using a 12 gauge with rifled slugs, but as I become more proficient & confident I will also be using my crossbow next season, and I will be chasing pigs until then. I am also noticing the same thing that the fella described in the video with reduced / different sign, but I am definitely beginning to see it easier than the first time I went out.
@GrandDungeonDadАй бұрын
Loved this as others have said so good to see you boys stand hunting on public land. This past week on the opener I dropped a young doe with my rifle in Michigan. I couldve waited for a buck but Michigan has a problem. There are 10-12 does to every buck and no one wants to take does. Reported kills for the county on the 15th there was 100 more bucks taken than does. It was also my first time back in the woods in awhile. It was all public land. There were a ton of people. What they said about having a plan A B C and D was not wrong.

As a life long hunter (35 yrs thus far), I do believe their should be an "honor system tag" for "wounded" and "potentially mortally wounded" animals that deduct from your tag allocation. My group and I do this on our own due to having multiple tags (instate/resident) so it isn't the end of the world to burn a tag, but it would make people think, and possibly have a ethical/moral conversation with themselves that may help in large numbers. However, I am not an internet influencer, nor tv personality that may only get one tag for OK, or WY or NE for my production. My .02 cents. For what that may be worth
@RogueWoodsmanАй бұрын
While i agree with your ethic. You wound you tag it looks like Tony killed 2 deer so I would presume steve had 2 tags as well. But i could be wrong, hopefully not wishful thinking. They shouldve taken an opportunity to promote that idea tho.
@StevenSchwartz-eb7jpАй бұрын
Two buck tags in OK!

Oklahoma doesn't have individual tags anymore. You pay one larger price per method of take and it covers all the deer you take with that method.

I’m torn. As a lifelong Oklahoma hunter I love seeing people come here. But now that I almost exclusively hunt public lands the uptick from out of state hunters has been crazy!!! I even have spoken with a Texas wildlife biologist who said he hunts here even over the lands he manages just across the border.
@HentylionАй бұрын
I know! The pressure has skyrocketed in the last few years. I'm sure the recent videos will only help with that. Glad to know there's hunters still but we have very little public anyways, the deer can't take much more than this lol
@soonerfrac4611Ай бұрын
@ I’m not sure where you are but the reality is we’re far more blessed than most realize with the amount of public land. Not saying it’s not getting hit more because it obviously is. The local game warden told me that’s why they upped the out of state tag prices. Even then it’s a steal! Buy your archery tag and license and it’s good all season for all your deer! Where else does something like that for as cheap as it is!
