Yeah, some of these things it's hard to escape big ticket items but to put it in perspective... that fancy pre-runner bumper on my Ram cost even more than this thing. Plus, once you commit... this part will be there for the rest of the life of this project and I'm going to be smashing it into rocks and such and really appreciate the build quality. But again, I hear you... it ain't cheap.

I lifted an H2 (basically the same suspension) with a Rancho lift, Truxxx keys and Cognito UCA's and it rode AWESOME. I'm sure you will end up lifting it. :)

@@AutoEdits Sweet! My locker is actually factory, so pretty impressed with how it has done so far...and my Tahoe has done some crazy rock-hill climbs. All mine has is a Rough Country 2in lift with the add a leaf in the rear. Really stiffened up the ride so you may like yours how it is, or go for one over 2 inches thst drops the subframe to keep that nice ride lol. I think you are really going to enjoy it. Can't wait to see it with the Grizzly!

Love the Tahoe (almost as much as the Ram!). I just can't get over how good those tires look on that rig. New bumper looks amazing. If it were mine I would ditch the chrome grille and either try to color match the truck or black it out to match the mirrors.

HA! I totally appreciate that about living out here. One of the things that has me most excited about this thing is that it has never been really off road. The chassis/skid plates/ rear axle... none of them have even a scratch on them... totally pristine! I can't wait to be the first to bang it around a little bit!

when i use to be a emergency worker my personal vehicle had a 15,000 lb winch , 3 light bars (2 were red/white 1 was amber/white (for plowing)) wigwags, strobe tail lights, dash light grill lights rear light mounted inside facing out from bed cap. front bumper had LED off road lights that were hooked to a strobe kit option for when i needed it /

Thanks for asking... Pinto is getting better slowly but surely. I'll let you know when I do the fluids... other than topping off the oil and continually pouring power steering fluid in it... I keep saving the fluid change for a video but getting distracted. I will use the Lucas synthetic for everything on this rig and we'll see how it does.

Yes, it's a big tough bumper... I can tell already that it's going to get tested in the rocks and we'll see how strong it really is...lol The only thing I've had an issue with is the passenger side tire getting cut a little by the top of the fender during big bumps . I'm going to roll the lip a bit more this weekend to solve that but it's also a product of the upper a arm bushings worn out and allowing a ton of positive camber as well. Otherwise, I'm digging it.

Those bumpers are supposed to weigh over two hundred pounds. The bumper that you installed looked like it weighed less than that. You manuvered it pretty easy. Was the bumper that you installed aluminum?

That looks great Jason! Really like where this is going. Makes me want to get a Tahoe myself. Did you end up ordering the redhead steering gear? I went with a burgeson ujoint to replace the rag joint. That took 80% of the play out. I am considering the redhead geer as well. I would go with the sport, but would imagine you want the standard or the 18:1 for better mechanical advantage to turn the bigger tires offroad.

Looks good, if you are looking into lifting the suspension id look into an ord sas kit for the front with leaf springs. Super simple and bulletproof. I did a 94 blazer with a leaf front end and it was surprisingly smooth. And for the axle cheep look on car-part.com lots of good stuff on there

Yeah, good bumpers aren't cheap. The "pre-runner" bumper on my Ram cost more than this thing and I can't even mount a winch in it. So I'm pretty happy that I have the strength and practicality in this one and it will last the rest of the life of this project.
