That Tahoe looks nice! I've done a leveling kit up front and a spacer in the rear for some additional clearance for articulation. Think an add a leaf would do the same. Also maybe a 2 inch body lift too. For me It's a lot of fun having additional space for the family. My primary wheeling rig is an 86 Suzuki Samurai in which the family may have trouble fitting in.

I have a GMT-400 Suburban and the upgrade I'm most pleased with is the full Powerstop Z36 brake kit with the powder coated calipers. The stock brakes are a weak point on this platform and the Powerstop brakes are amazing. And they're cheaper than OEM brakes from the dealer. You'll want Part No. KC1970-36 I replaced all my front end parts with HD Moog or GM parts. In my case I got TA K02's for what you paid for those milestars. I also have an HT-383E engine swap with JB headers and Magnaflow header back exhaust with performance cats plus a performance tune. Love this platform. Amazing truck in all weather. Easy and inexpensive to work on. Drives great in town and on the highway.

Odd. I have a GMT-800 Suburban, and it’s brakes are phenomenal. It stops faster and truer than the 2017 Nissan Altima and 2016 Hyundai Sonata I had before. Of course, it’s 4-wheel discs, so perhaps that’s part of it.

Oh you're in for it now, big tires do interesting things to old trucks :) Looks great, awesome project. Just don't go too far off the trail for a while, those big tires will expose the weakness in the drivetrain. Which is a good thing if you want to turn that into an off-roader, since you can fix them and get the truck squared away and reliable for longer trips. BTW - Props on the production value, the back facing front cam on the trail, nice!

This is awesome, I’ve been watching your videos to help me work on my 99 suburban, and now you have a 90s Tahoe. This will make my life a lot easier. I studied your brake upgrade video for a while and just went ahead and installed Wilwood disks on all 4 corners of my suburban a little over a month ago. New rotors, calipers, brake lines, proportional valve and master cylinder. Did a lot of changes to it so far this year. And to top it off, I just realized we are aren’t too far away from each other. I was wondering why that area looked familiar during your test drive. Would be great if I could show you my work in person once I’m done with the changes and break in process.
@AutoEdits

Wow, you went Wilwood on your Suburban... that sounds expensive but awesome! I was going to do the Powerstop brakes in front and just refresh the rear drums on this... mind me asking what kits from Wilwood you went with, a ballpark price and can you run the stock 16" wheels with them?
@SergeantSalsa
@SergeantSalsa 3 жыл бұрын
AutoEdits hows it going! Yea I was looking to see what options were out there with little modifications. I found a shop called little shop mfg, and they make their adapters in house. I asked them a bunch of questions for months and they helped me out. For the front and rears I did 14 inch breaks, 6 piston calipers front and 4 piston rears. They do say you need 18 inch wheels for the 14 inch brakes and 20 inch wheels for their 16 inch brakes. For just the brakes alone, it was a little over 4K. It’s a lot but this is just one of those things I definitely wanted high quality. I started the brake in procedure but realized I had a leak in a line I made so I had to replace it. Once I have a chance I’ll be able to bleed it again and test it. Also replaced the differential because it was a few drives away from destroying itself. This has been my project for a few years and I’m glad you got that Tahoe. You also got the bumper I’m looking into installing!

I have a couple of K2500 pickups and they both rub with aftermarket wheels and 33x12.50s. I'm definitely going to install the tires on a set of stock wheels. I have cranked the torsion bars. Mine rub on the front bumper and the rear of the front fender. . And I've trimmed both!

Crazy how you fit 35s on a stock Tahoe. I put 33s on my 09 2500 Burb and i've got quite a bit of trimming to do in the front. Great vid!

Love your videos. They are always fun to watch and entertaining! Also, that Tahoe has me feeling nostalgic, riding around in my Mom’s Tahoe with the 5.7 vortec. Simpler times...

Right! I can't quite explain the nostalgia and how it impacts the feeling of wrenching or driving on it... it's not like it's a classic car or anything... just very interesting that it's real.

Jason, having watched your channel for years, and knowing how your plans for a vehicle can change, I look forward to the day you decide to take the Tahoe to Tahoe by way of the Rubicon Trail.

You just blew my mind with that one... If I could get this thing capable enough to survive the Rubicon would be EPIC! But to take the Tahoe to Tahoe thing may just happen soon because of how awesome that sounds... thank you!

I was happy with moog parts when i rebuilt my entire front end on my 97 k1500. I eventually switched to acdelco and aftermarket parts when i did the SAS. But i traditionally like acdelco or moog when it comes to my 97 k1500, 05 tahoe and 07 silverado.

@@AutoEdits both those companies have higher quality parts moog is problem solver and acdelco is the professional series. They cost more but are a closer comparison to OEM or better quality. Cant wait to see where you are takimg the OBS I was suprised to see a 35 fit so easily.

35s will fit on a OBS Tahoe or truck but I would recommend a 4 inch lift because the front tires will rub on the front and rear fender if your doing any serious offroading I have a 1993 k1500 with 35s with a 4 inch lift and still had to trim the front fender at the bottom and remove the front plastic bumper lip to prevent rubbing

Since the front is only rated to 33" tires max, that's what I did to my '99 Suburban K1500, even though I have the 3.42:1 gears. I've been driving it this way for 50K miles now, no problem. Next will be a lower-mileage '99 K2500 suburban so its 9.25" IFS can take 35s, and there's actually a locker for it, from ARB.
