Despite my last name, ( from my marriage to a Mexican national) both of my parents were Hungarian refugees. My father from Sopron/ Kapuvar and my mother from Budapest. I have not visited Hungary since I was a child during the 1970s. My older sister's daughter ( my niece) is mixed, and her children are Black. We all plan to visit Sopron and Budapest, but I am afraid of racism, and worried that my husband will be mistaken for Roma. ( Gypsy) I love my heritage - the food, history, culture, etc. but am frankly disheartened by the news of xenophobia etc. Also, I speak Hungarian fairly well to get by. I really want my family to experience the beauty of Hungary - the Duna, buildings, landscape, etc. but not the intolerance.

You should go and introduce your family to their heritage,iam sure you will have a good time but Hungry as you know has a different culture than Mexico, people expect to have their culture respected and that is right but at the same time you should respect other people's culture,in this case Hungary's. Europe in general is going through a transformation , economy is slowly collapsing but Hungry seems to have a good future ahead. Wish you luck

Why? The world is open to anyone with a valid passport and there is freedom of travel between all civilized nations... The only places with closed borders are places like North Korea - you should perhaps go there with your attitude. And by the way, despite my last name ( through marriage) I am Hungarian - my father was from Kapuvar/ Sopron and my mother, Budapest. A world war was fought to bury such mentality - Hungarians have always been a freedom loving people, but freedom can never be had as long as it is denied to anyone or any group...

@@963ag no the world is not open to anyone, not at all. we dont want to see them in our country in our homeland. Yes, we love freedom and a part of our freedom is to have the right to save our country from people we dont want to come here. To have the opinion "not to come" here, and to tell them Not to come! even if they have passport. Your freedom is not ours, your freedom is for us a prison. And I hate these propaganda Videos.
