Dear Dave Mani, the price of a piece of lángos is HUF 1,350 if you buy it not at the Christmas market, but in an ordinary store selling flaming. The same applies to the price of other food. At the Budapest fair, tourists are asked for horrifying prices. George from Budapest.
@DaveMani4 күн бұрын
Oh we are very aware of that. Prices are close to triple for most food at the markets.

Hungarian here. Budapest is the most beautiful city(as a person living in the countryside). I heard about the Christmas Market and even though it looks astonishing, the prices are absolutely janked up for good reasons. On the market, there are only premium products showcased(even the sellers said that they only work with premium products and don't measure prices to actual market prices but rather premium/luxury prices) and they are 8 times higher than the actual market price. This market is only meant for foreigners/tourists and not for us Hungarians(even though our people sell them) and lot of people recommend you to not buy anything because not only they don't accept cash(you have to pay extra 1000 Forint for a card) but they are unaffordable luxuries for us hungarians. In comparison the minimal wage is around 200-300k Forint(500 Euros) and the christmas market in Berlin is way more cheaper and more affordable and they have 10 times higher salaries(which is why we usually immigrate). If you really wish to actually experience the real Hungary that exists, with normal prices, I would recommend to search far away from Budapest as much as you can(for example Eger is one of the best Hungarian cities i've been to). Only go to Budapest if you have money because you would easily get ripped off with high prices due to the huge difference between the rest of Hungary and Budapest,like a bubble.
@DaveMani2 күн бұрын
I have to agree with you. The markets are simply stunning but prices there compared to average cost of living in the country are the highest in Europe from what we saw after doing this is 9 countries.

Hi...Food looked yummy😋...Love your travels!👏... Have to mention though, would have liked to have seen the market more, the booths etc, since it's one of the best, and less with the camera in your faces eating ...sometimes the scenery feels a bit dizzying...or a bit more space between you face and the 🤳 camera would help (not sayin you're not extremely handsome 😊... but better not to see your chewing magnified)...😅 🎄👍

there is one problem with the Budapest Christmas market, it has become so expensive that most Hungarians prefer to walk there, and you can buy food for half the price for five minutes' walk, I recommend it to you too, if you eat anything, I recommend only the classic Hungarian version
