Buddha´s tooth

Perahera party in Kandi (Sri Lanka). Once a year, in August, Buddha´s tooth (?) is taken out on parade to ensure rain and good crops for the next year. Allegedly, the british banned the parade for a few years and a terrible draught ensued, that only ended when the parade was allowed again.
