I think it is important to understand when, where, and how did Buddhism and its architecture start... so it would be much better if you started by its origins like the place Lord Buddha was in Lumbini, Nepal, and its architecture like Ashoka Piller, Maya Devi Temple, Puskarni Pond, etc at Lumbini since 3rd BCE.
