The Buddha said that nothing gives us more trouble than an untrained mind - and nothing brings more benefit than a well-trained mind. Buddhist meditation teacher and author Shaila Catherine will address the common tendencies to judge and compare. She proposes that while wise discernment is useful, excessive comparing and compulsive judging can harm relationships, obscure the clarity of perception, and thwart spiritual development. Drawing from traditional Buddhist teachings, this talk includes practical suggestions for calming a harsh inner critic, while encouraging critical and thoughtful inquiry.
