Ajahn Brahm observes that adding negativity to our physical illness makes it worse, so he encourages us instead to put happiness and joy into our sicknesses. Please support the BSWA in making teachings available for free online via Patreon: / buddhistsocietywa

my mother on her own told me when I 22 now 62 that she would die in a week and I tried to cheer her up that she wasn't that she was going on vacation in a week but low and behold she died exactly in a week, and she wasn't sad but cheerful.

It was nice if her to give you advance notice. Not all parents can bring themselves to do that as the offspring might become extremely agitated and depressed, and many parents might decide they'd be sparing them somehow. Depending. on upbringing and culture, Death of a loved one can be...complicated. It seems to have worked out for you and I would reckon your mom knew you could handle the news well enough. :)

I have the flu. I think I’ve listened to over 70 hours of Brahm and Brahmali in 7 days ... including one from an unknown monk.

I now have cancer ! Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma DLBCL aggressive. “…. Enjoy my cancer ? …” Do I enjoy intense burning sensation around the heart . Do I enjoy not being able to walk 20 feet. Do I enjoy not being able to eat. Do I enjoy not being able to breath and gasping for air . Do I enjoy blacking out and fainting, falling and hitting the concrete floor with my head , cracking the skull in two places and getting a concussion. Do I enjoy having a tube in my body because I can’t urinate like a normal human being. Do I enjoy not being able to sleep because of the constant pain. Do I enjoy all the side effects that come with chemotherapy treatment. The word enjoy isn’t a word I would use to describe my cancer journey!

There’s always an Eddie in every crowd or in a group where people meet who takes up valuable time. I would say to Eddie ... “ Eddie, don’t get hung up on your experiences, they’re transient .... impermanent. Let them go. They’re not that important. Otherwise, you get attached to them and begin to look for them.” I’m watching a recording and frankly, I’m not really interested in what he has to say. To me he’s just rambling nonsensically. I’m sure others reading my comment will say I’m being critical and that I should have more compassion. I would reply back, Eddie please have compassion for us and not subject us to your discourse. I came to hear AB not you. If you want to give a teaching, upload yourself on KZbin. Then you can talk all you want.

If you like mind science aka neuroscience, you might like to read a book called "The Master and the Emissary". Pretty interesting stuff. There's interviews with the author on KZbin.
