In today's interview session, Buddy Duress share with us his criminal charges, his life-threatening injuries, and his time in Rikers during Covid-19. So let's deep dive into the video to know more about Buddy Duress from him.
Writer and Director Cameron Van Hoy of Ardor Pictures talks with actor Buddy Duress while he awaits trial for a bank robbery at Rikers Island. Known for his roles in the Safdi Brother films, "Heaven Knows What" and "GoodTime" opposite Robbert Pattinson, his next appearance will be in "Flinch," coming January 2021. His on-screen performances representing criminals and addicts closely resembles his real life.
In this five-part vlog series, Buddy discusses his life, career, trouble with the law, and the most recent charges of bank robbery.
Buddy Duress made a name for himself with a breakout performance in the award-winning film Good Time. He has starred in other films including person to person and the safety brothers "Heaven Knows What" while a talented actor Buddy has been unable to stay out of trouble his rap sheet includes drug charges petty larceny identity theft and criminal possession after wrapping production on the feature film "Flinch". Buddy was arrested for grand larceny in the third degree the following conversations were recorded with Buddy from inside Rikers Island.
Buddy Duress's first time in Rikers was a decade ago, for petty larceny. He's been sent there some 10 times on charges ranging from heroin possession to identity theft. In fact, he was at Rikers when his big break, Heaven Knows What, premiered at the New York Film Festival in 2014.
The Queens native received positive notices for his performance in the film “Good Time,” in which he held his own alongside A-lister Robert Pattinson. He visited the actor at the jail, where Duress was sent after being arrested on charges of grand larceny in the third degree.

🤔 I'm sure you didn't mean this literally (or maybe you did) but the GOAT term is tossed around and grossly overused these days. What about those who preceeded him (Pacino, De Niro ect) ? Buddy has serious potential and he's already a fascinating case study with all of his real life misadventures being in lockstep with his onscreen portrayals but he's got a long way to go before and much to prove before he can enter the pantheon GOAT conversation. I truly hope he beats his cases and gets clean/stays clean so he can continue his delayed trajectory towards becoming one of the greats.

I think people use the term goat loosely, but I don't think it's a bad thing. Just hyping him up, because he's extremely fucking talented and I hope he can pull his act together.

I'm genuinely a big fan of this guy, not only is he a naturally skilled actor (who could probably even get better, either with time or some lessons to expand his range), but growing up near where he did and in similar circumstances, he reminds me of so many people I have known over the years--in a good way, actually. I sincerely hope he is not deemed 'uninsurable', and can't get roles once he's out...it's happened to bigger stars for a time, although usually for substance abuse rather than crime. Might be easier to insure the latter, actually, at least during a shoot, lol. Hope Buddy keeps his head up. P.S. If you've only seen him in "Good Time", yes, he was great in that...but I actually thought he was even better in "Heaven Knows What"

I was in prison with him for about 7 months before he left in January and I left in March. Good guy but... well I'm not about to psychoanalyse him. The brain damage he suffered was not good but I think he can still act (new movie Mass State Lotto trailer out now), he walks with a pretty significant limp, looks like a hip injury limp.

@@peggy3038 he's doing really well and he has another movie lined up when he gets out. I just hope he does the smart thing and gets on a maintenance program to help him stay off the drugs. I've been sober 4 years now and I can't be around him if he's using. His ma is probably going to let him parole to her house if she can get the order of protection lifted. Earliest he's out is going to be February of 2022.
