Ross Bolen I have no affiliation with country music ( I grew up around mostly Jamaican poeple) but holy shit Buddy Emmon's phrasing, chordal playing etc is so great Ive turned the corner on the whole genre. If you haven't heard "Minors Aloud" with Lenny Breau check it out to hear Big E's jazzier side.

Certainly one of the finest professional entertainers I have ever met. He told me he never slept when the bus was moving. His job was to stay awake and talk to the driver to keep him from falling asleep at the wheel. He was that kind of person.

Cliff, if you are reading this,. Your Daddy was so special. We saw him in later years at the Shamrock In Houston (No longer here), but he bought so much joy to us. Please embrace that and know that it meant a lot to us. It is a part of our memory, that will never go away. A different time when people got dressed up to go to these special events, was allowed to be adults and smoke, have a drink or three..and have a good time. So sad that all of this has gone away to a world of confused people who communicate by emojis and text messages instead of living life in the real world.

The performance is a special moment for the entire band as the concoction of instruments cook into an uncommon brew of perfection. The sheer joy of everyone on that stage is something you don't see every day on the road.

Wow , that's the jazz neck , so I've heard. The E9th neck is for country . I'm a drummer and vocalist , but I have nothing but respect for any musician that can play steele . As a drummer vocalist , I have 5 axis of movments , hands and feet and voice . But steele players have 6. Because they also use their knees to control levers under the steele. Just amazing . And if they sing , that's seven.

Ray laughs because of Buddy Emmon's unbelievable playing and then at 2.47 Buddy flashes him that grin that says it all. Two of the all-time greats at the top of their game. I wish I could have been there for that concert- there are no replacements for these incredible musicians and singers.

Im 25 and approve this high class styled country music. I went to Nashville back in ' 05 Porter Wagner was to play was down with pneumonia you know who replaced him? Brad Fuc*in Paisley. I'll admit I'm a bit inebriated but heaven almighty was it awful. There I was in the holy land of good music and in walks in with a dinky 1x wired crown hat and torn jeans brad f'in paisley. I was with my then 78 year old grandfather both us wearing suits and our finest boots to patronize a legendary musician to only realize what music has gone to. Oh yes the crowd cheered. Thank the lord I got to see Mr. Price through the finest fund raising concert out in Burelson Tx before his time came. Just like Jones says,"I may be old, but I ain't impaired", I got to see an at peace Ray Price.

Dirk Diggler If you type in "Concert Conversation The Big E Tribute to Buddy Emmons" here at KZbin you will find a 90 minute tribute to him. It has many examples of his humour and his amazing innovations as a player and inventor. Many great musicians play his solos and he is then introduced. Early in the tribute this video of him and Ray is shown- it encapsulates Buddy and reminds us of his time with Ray Price 50 years ago. Two of the really greatest- being appreciated by other greats. Well worth watching if you like real country music and incredible anecdotes and the greatest musical skills.

On this day in 1963 {September 28th} Rusty Draper's "Night Life" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #57 and spent 8 weeks on the Top 100... Also in 1963 country singer Ray Price covered it for his album of the same name... The song was written by Willie Nelson and in 1961 he was the first person to recorded it... Rusty Draper passed away on March 28th, 2003 at the age of 80... R.I.P Mr. Draper and Mr. Price turns 87 this coming January 12th...

The tempo is too fast. This happens when people are excited over a live performance. The drummer should have clicked off the tempo on his drum sticks to get the performers synched. Too fast deprives this song of the emotion. It makes it happy when fast. Most songs are written alone, in a reflective mood.
