Thanks for posting! Buddy is fantastic for sure. Cathy was such a stunner. She's still beautiful to this day.

Holy cow, I never knew Buddy was such a pistol! Of course his skins skills are legendary, but here he is doing comedic banter with Johnny Carson and Don Rickles and - never mind holding his own - he's the coolest guy on the whole stage! The great entertainers aren't just great at their thing. They're great at everything.

A lot of people don't know this but Johnny Carson played drums. He also loved Buddy Rich and looked up to him as a fellow percussionist.

See this is where you see the ‘charisma’ of the man. Oh sure he was super-human in his playing and demanded perfection from himself and others, and delivered that. But he was flat out cool .

Buddy Rich (Nueva York, 30 de septiembre de 1917 - Los Ángeles, 2 de abril de 1987) fue un baterista estadounidense de jazz, representante del swing, bop y, en general, del jazz de las big bands.

John Byner seems to be really disconnected from what's going on. Maybe jealous of the attention Rickles has been getting? Two comedians on the same show, maybe not a great idea.

Don Rickles always wants to be the head comedian it seems in a situation like this. He had gone on this show several times with one or more other comedians and everything was fine. But Byner definitely just didn't fit in there. Not the same league.

Probably thought Rickles was annoying as fuck, which he was. Sometimes, you are just not funny. Rickles has had better moments. Rickles could be hilarious at times, but he was a one-trick-pony with his insults. There are many comedians I would rather listen to besides Rickles.

I like at 01:37 with Buddy Rich being his usual asshole, unfunny self, then Johnny rips him a new one as only he could do, and Buddy doesn't even realize it (Rickles sure gets it though).

john byner appears to be having a lousy time.
@shrapnel775 жыл бұрын
Rickles is flat out annoying here, leaning over his arm chair screaming at Johnny and Buddy. His jokes were not hitting either. Sometimes, even though you are a well respected comedian, you need to STFU. I do not blame Byner, I would have wanted to get off of that stage ASAP.

John Byner's funny. Rich and Rickles are a bit loud and annoying so when Rickles says, "come on, Jon, we're leaving!" as he walks off with Rich, Jon does not move an inch from his seat. It's almost as if he said, "will you sit the fuck down and just listen to the interview!"
