Never Buddy's biggest fan, but he definitely had an impact on the legacy of the NFL. Pretty remarkable what he was able to do on the defensive side of the ball. The Bears, Eagles, and Oilers were so nasty under his guidance. And of course his sons have had good careers in the NFL as coaches. I would like to hear more about the friction between Buddy, and Ditka, but of course now Buddy isn't around anymore to share his side of it all. It's amazing they were able to co-exist for so long before Buddy got the Eagles job.

Great comment once again. I'm amazed anyone was able to co-exist with Buddy Ryan. But yes, it was pretty remarkable what he was able to do on the defensive side of the ball. Thanks again.

I liked Earnest a lot. I liked all of those Oilers WRs. I never heard of that quote until the Houston '93 Football Life. But thanks for posting that quote. Thanks for all of your comments and thanks for all of the support.

I wouldn't mind "A Football Life" on Buddy Ryan too but the person i want to see have a "Football Life" is Mike Webster from the Steelers

WOW, that's a name. Mike Webster was before my time as I myself, would also like to see that. But I really like the Mike Webster mention for "A Football Life". I hope it happens. Thanks again.

Great idea. IMHO the owner of the Eagles fired Buddy Ryan over Ryan’s reputation & personality of other teams despising him. But his players loved him & I believe that he could’ve retained Reggie White & taken the Eagles to a Super Bowl if given more time. Getting Ryan out of that division made it easier for the Redskins (1991) & the Cowboys (1992, 93 & 95) to go to Super Bowls. It’s like the owner fired Ryan so that he’d be accepted by other team owners.

Thanks for the comment. I understand going 0-3 in the postseason can make someone lose their job but that's something I would like to learn more about, is how Buddy Ryan's time in Philly ended. Furthermore, that's an interesting point you made about Buddy being out of that division it made it easier for WAS and DAL. Thanks again for all of your comment.

@@90sSportsNostalgia I remember that time period very well. The Eagles owner Norman Braman (bought the team in 1985 for only $65 million) was getting sick of the press towards the end of Buddy’s tenure. There was the “Bounty Bowl” game & Jimmy Johnson was mad at him for having Randall Cunningham for a TD from victory formation. And through it all, Buddy who is said to have led troops in battle for the Army in the Korean Conflict, always had an attitude that was kind of “smart ass.” On top of it Buddy was a one man show. He made player decisions & didn’t want interference from owners. Finally, this might be hard to find but I remember reports that other owners spoke with Eagles owner Norman Braman one of the owners meetings as to whether he’d appreciate their coaches acting like Buddy acted. It created the feeling that Norman was told that being part of the gentlemen’s club of owners meant that the team including the coaches band to act a certain way or that he could be like Al Davis who didn’t have other owners as friends & was always fighting. There’s an interview on here with Buddy at his horse ranch where he says that Eagles owner Norman Braman was tired of the team being called “Buddy Ryan’s Eagles” & justifiably paid a lot of money for the team so it was fair that he wanted them to be called “Norman Braman’s Eagles.” But I always felt like it was media & owner pressure that caused it. Braman made a comment that Buddy benching Randall Cunningham in a playoff game for former Bears QB Jim McMahon (how many don’t know what is a back up and got a Super Bowl ring on the 1996 Packers) saying it was insulting to Cunningham. Buddy addresses it in that same interview that’s here on KZbin. I believe the interview is from the early 1990s. Good luck & thanks for great videos. 👍

The NFL doesn't really like making these anymore for some reason

Yeah the series seems to have slowed down to a grinding halt. NFL Films in general is a shell of what it used to represent in my opinion. Shame.

Yeah, I don't really know what the situation is. I saw from Wikipedia is that the release is September 15, 2011 - present. But I hope there will be more in the future, but perhaps there aren't anymore well-known names to make more episodes. Thanks for watching the video and thanks for the comment.
