Also remember that Nick Saban was on Glanville’s Falcons staff & that’s how he & June Jones got Saban to look at Tua. Glanville knows the X’s & O’s better than most & knows how to motivate players.

It's amazing he is now a DC for north western Oklahoma state. At 82. Tell you how much he loves football. He still one of my favorite coaches of all time

Thanks for the comment. This video was about some of my brief memories of Jerry Glanville, and then I wound up Googling Jerry Glanville and saw that he was a DC at age 82 as I was amazed. I think you stated it well - "Tell you how much he loves football". Also one of my favorites despite what I talked about with him at Hawaii, but I miss those days. Thanks again.

Agree 100%. Always felt like Glanville paid a heavy price for letting Favre leave the Falcons. Glanville is SO KNOWLEDGEABLE regarding NFL history. He talks about players like Night Train Lane & Joel Schmidt. Glanville was fun even though he got into it with my beloved Chuck Noll. Glanville ran the excellent 1978 Atlanta Falcons Grits Blitz also.

Haha, Jerry was definitely one of the NFL's all-time memorable characters. To this day I find it remarkable how he was able to turn around the Oilers franchise with how brash, and looney his personality seemed to be. As if he was all-talk. Yet his Oilers teams did produce results. His Falcons teams not so much. I think the closet we've seen to another Jerry Glanville was Jim Harbaugh with my 49ers who sometimes rubbed a good amount of people the wrong way with his sometimes overzealous nature, yet got results. It's going to be interesting to see how his tenure as Chargers HC will be.

Great comment as always. I'm now thinking about an NFL game with Glanville and Harbaugh on opposite sidelines. That Harbaugh - Jim Schwartz postgame handshake was hilarious. But I wish the Chargers didn't get Harbaugh because Jim is a game changer, and I don't want the Chargers to do well because of them leaving SD for LA. At least the San Diego Chargers got to experience 1 Super Bowl, but it was a blowout to your 49ers. Thanks again for the comment.

@@90sSportsNostalgia Yeah I wish the Chargers were still in San Diego. I became somewhat of a backdoor fan when we blew them out in '94. Great uniforms.

@@90sSportsNostalgia His childhood team growing up was the Detroit Lions. His favorite stadium to visit on the road was the Cleveland Browns “Mistake by the Lake”. He most loved facing the late, great Walter Payton. And his favorite aspect of the 80s Oilers and his 90s Falcons were how they hit hard and weren’t afraid to throw deep on offense

The Oilers were the team I feared the most during those years as a Browns fan. The Bengals had a few good seasons but the Oilers were consistently good under him it seems, or at least dangerous and could go off in any game for 40 points. Yeah... looking back, they were our chief rival during those years in my eyes.

Thanks for the comment as your comment is something I'm very interested in from AFC Central fans back then. Your comment was a great read. That's very interesting as a Browns fan, you thought the Oilers were your chief rival back then and not the Bengals or Steelers. The NFL Network I think had the Browns-Bengals as the 4th biggest rivalry, but anyways, that's great to know that a Browns fan thought the Oilers were their biggest rival back then. Furthermore, great points you made in regards to the Oilers. Thanks again the comment.

@@90sSportsNostalgiaWell if you asked my Father back in those days he would say the Steelers were and always will be our chief rival. However, they weren't very good back in those years and we consistently beat them with little issues. The Oilers though, it was always a tough game in my memory, literally always. Surprisingly I also recall them often showing the Browns/Oilers games on national TV as we rarely got Browns games where I lived. So it was a big deal when those two teams met in those years. I can't recall much of the Bengals back then except for a few games where they won/we won so it was split pretty well but I recall the Bengals being more of a help than a rival in those years as they beat the Oilers and Broncos during the regular season which helped us get homefield in the playoffs... which didn't help in the end... The Oilers even beat us in the wildcard one season if memory serves where we were favored and had beaten them in Houston the week before. They were always a tough game.
