Your car is smart alternator equipped I can see the sensor (shunt) under your left hand at 2:30 you should never wire anything directly to the -ve batter terminal , also to get a wire through the grommet, remove it, invert the grommet, and cut the thin end off it and wires will go through easier. You should absolutely NOT ground the start battery, let the power run from the start battery to the body as per factory... the supply to the DCDC -ve should be connected to the body If you have a -ve wire to the Anderson plug, or anything else on the -ve start battery remove it as your battery will get deep cycled and fail , im pretty sure I spotted a wire connected in the Uniden video This is important as connecting direct to the -ve bypasses the shun, then that accessory drains power, the alternator doesn't "know" and won't generate the current to compensate

Nel video non si vede bene, potresti per favore , indicare in dettaglio dove passa il cavo di alimentazione? Ho trovato una cuffietta in gomma, è quella? grazie In the video it is not clear, could you please indicate in detail where the power cable passes? I found a rubber cap, is that it? thanks.

Yes through the rubber grommet🙂

So the short end to fuse on main power should be at battery end not charger end..fuse is there to protect the cable so always fuse as close as possible to the battery

Also you do have a smart alternator you can tell by the earth terminal, because you earthed through the body the smart alternator is reading that as a load.

@@dannyboy3241 thanks for the advice mate much appreciated. Do you think the dcdc will still work fine like it is? Cheers

@budget4x4life no worries..mine is wired the same but I'm using enerdrive 40+ and got no issues..you could still use the vsr as a safe guard ..just remember the more power demands if still using the factory earth cable you probably will have to go a bigger cable gauge

Good vid. So where exactly in your car have you installed the battery. It looked like it was on the back seat.

Would be worth running a power meter on the fridge over 24hrs. But otherwise guessing you might need to replace ~600Wh/daily for the fridge. So 40-50Ah just to keep the fridge going. So ~70 minutes driving a day to keep battery topped up, battery would have a 2 day buffer. Solar panel would be good to bring that need down.

@ cheers Rick! Not sure why it still works as normal haha. Gets charged up when car is running😄

@@budget4x4lifeit may drain the starter battery when not running without the ignition from what I understand - I’ve got a Kickass DCDC wired into my NX with the ignition wire connected.
