Sir, the new customs policy aims to solve the issue of Inverted duty structure ie., increase customs duty on finished goods and not on the raw materials. So how will it go against The Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative? rather it seems that this policy promotes these initiatives... hope you reply..

Sir In tamilnadu, the electricity is provided directly by tamilnadu electricity board.... Here how could possible for multiple discom's??

In most of the states, the distribution of Electricity is monopolised by DISCOMs, which come directly under the control of respective State Governments. Hence, the Government has sought to break this monopoly by allowing private sector participation in power distribution. Allowing private sector participation in power distribution is expected to promote competition between state-owned DISCOMs and private DISCOMs leading to higher operational efficiencies, reduced AT&C losses and greater consumer benefits.

Sir, ARCs have been in existence since 2003. Why not strengthen existing ARCs instead of going for a new ARC?

Presently, there are around 10-15 ARCs, out of which only 3-4 ARCs are well capitalised to take over NPAs worth Rs 500 crores. However, the total NPAs concentrated in 70 large accounts is high as 2-2.5 lakh crores. Obviously, we could have strengthened the existing ARCs to solve this. But, the Government believes that a new ARC without any legacy issues would be well equipped to handle this.

Why don't banks do the same work as ARC on their own. Why a new Bad Bank to be established?

The Banks have expertise in accepting deposits and giving loans.They may not have expertise in restructuring the loans. Further, the process of restructuring and recovery of NPAs would take significant amount of time and efforts for the Banks. Hence, in a way, the Banks are outsourcing the recovery of NPAs to specialised bank i.e Bad Bank.
