I'm going to show you how to inspect your 2v heads and install them. These are very simple procedures if you are on a budget and can't afford to pay someone to build an engine or if you are DIYer that is comfortable and confident with building an engine.

Yes! Use an old valve and a stack of washers. Buy the valve guides with the stoppers on them. It makes life easier so you don't have to measure or reem.

It's not necessary. You have to buy aftermarket parts like adjustable cam gears or crank sprocket. If you are looking to really dial it in and get all of the power, then yes.

Hey there, thanks for the video! I just bought a '97 Mustang GT. I'm no mechanic by trade, so I'm trying to learn the 4.6 2V the best I can. Unfortunately, my project car turned into a bigger project car I believe. Coolant started pouring out of it (as in, all of the coolant), and after a few days of disassembly, I figured out that it is pouring out of the exhaust manifold... yikes. I was trying to source the leak and could trace it up as far as the passenger side bolt that bolts the exhaust manifold to the mid-section of the exhaust. Then I started to take the mid-section off, and when I took off the bolts where the mid-section connects toward the rear, about a full cup of coolant came out. Any ideas what would cause coolant to be able to get into the exhaust manifold? I'm guessing either a cracked block, cracked head, or best case a bad head gasket. I was trying to use your video as reference to see where coolant could get into those ports, but you have more experience looking at these heads. Any input would be amazing. Thank you!
@streetslayers410
@streetslayers410 3 жыл бұрын
Wow that's a lot of coolant. There is a lot it could be but my best guess is that you have a bad cylinder head.

@@streetslayers410 Thank so much for the response on an old video haha! That's what I figure as well. Oh wow. Unfortunately, you have big problems. I would personally take the engine apart to find the problem. Some people have luck with block sealers, I'd recommend doing a chemical flush before and after for the best results. Remove the thermostat and bypass the heater core, replace the water pump, drain the coolant and replace with distilled water several times, when you have majority distilled water in the system do a chemical flush, repeat drain and replace with distilled water, when have majority water use block sealers, then chemical flush after sealer takes effect, the drain and replace with 50 coolant/50 water

@@streetslayers410 Sadly I believe the previous owner had done just that, when i bought it he stated that the water pump was replaced and that it fixed the issue i saw the new pump and when i drove it there was no problems so i purchased it but my first long drive came and on the way back home it overheated, I bypassed the thermostat did the chemical flush as well before and after i used the sealer and it worked for a bit but one day on my way to work at a red light it happened again and its been sitting since then, i start it once a week to move it but if i let it idle for too long it does the same, im thinking of either swapping in a 5.3 i have sitting that ik runs good or replacing the heads, i am up to the task but im not sure how i would know if its just the heads or even which one it would be
