Thank you for sharing, hoping this information will help my son and I. We built an engineer with almost exact same spec I used the 292 on 106lc grind delta ghost cam. But might have to change it for this project. We built it in honor of his battle with leukemia and he is about to hopefully take it on a pass or 2. But trying to get everything dialed. I read an article a while back that said dual plane manifolds don’t have good fuel distribution in a blow thru application. The engine was a SBF and they got good distribution using a single plane Weiand Xcelerator. They also tested a Victor Jr. and it wasn’t as good as the Weiand. David Vizard says the late model SBC roller blocks are good to 550 maybe 600 hp max. He uses 2 piece rear main seal older blocks for any build above 500hp.
@cuttersperformance2 жыл бұрын
While in some cases a dual planes can have distribution issues with nitrous or boost, my personal experience I have had good luck with running dual planes with boost with blow thru efi. We have about a max hp with this efi of about 600 to 630 hp so we shall see how it goes with boost on the factory rods, hyper pistons, cast crank and a factory late model block. Maybe I should bring a mop? Haha

Blow-thru is a carburator setup. It doesn't have anything to do with the inner cooler. You can have a inner cooler and a blow through setup. Blow-thru is when your turbo is pushing air thru the carb instead of the engine sucking the air thru. So the positive pressure in the carb is compensated for other wise you would just blow the fuel back into the bowl. With fuel injection wouldnt you just increase fuel pressure alone side boost or compensate with the fuel map, but a blow thru carb is built a bit different making it a "blow-thru"
@cuttersperformance2 жыл бұрын
You actually get a "intercooling" effect with a blow thru carb or blow through throttle body injection. Much like meth injection, the fuel moving from the top of the intake to the cylinder head actually draws heat out of the intake charge thus dropping the IA. Some call this "chemically intercooling" and it works great with lower boost applications or works quite well if using e85.
@antonherres71122 жыл бұрын
@@cuttersperformance yes you get a cooling effect, but that's not why it's called blow thru, that doesn't even have anything to do with the name lol. And no you don't call it blow thru on fuel injection. It's only called blow thru on carbs with turbos because of the physics of how a carb works. BLOW-THRU HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH INNER COOLERS ( and confusing and combining it with differences of direct injection doesn't change that)
@cuttersperformance2 жыл бұрын
@@antonherres7112 theres blow through carbs and you can have blow through efi (throttle body injection with a turbo or centrifugal blower) maybe its just a name but I know the manufacturers also call it blow thru efi. Could be a tomato - Tom-ato sort of situation

@@cuttersperformance if you want to call it that sure I guess, but it is for a specific reason it's called that. You could look into why they call the carbs that, like the physicals!! difference between the two types of carbs.

I have a Summit 600 carb on there. I have NO clue what to do next. The car is getting painted now. How do I manage the timing??? Can I stay with HEI? Arent you supposed to retard timing under boost???? Should I go with a blow thru carb or EFI??
@cuttersperformance2 жыл бұрын
Man actually pretty easy as you have already done the hard parts. The cheapest/easier way would be to run a blow through efi system like im running on this engine. They work great for lower boost setups with or without a intercooler. These systems easily control fuel and timing. You may need to find somone local or online remotely, if you dont have tuning experience to help safetly tune for power. Keep a eye out for a upcoming video where I show how to use a regualr TBI/TPI distributor with this efi system to control timing.

@@cuttersperformance so running the EFI is easier than a blow through carb? I will definitely stay tuned. By the way your vortec head videos helped me with my LT1 and a buddies engine as well. I almost lost an engine at the track but the broken spring held the valve high enough and i have +23 or so pistons so they have huge reliefs in them.
