Thank you so much for your videos you've inspired me to mod my xv250 and make it my own. Im not really a youtuber but ill try and post a video soon and show everything I've done with your help. I can't wait to see what this mod and the sprocket change will do for the performance. Again much thanks!!

Glad it was uesful! The sprocket swap transforms the bike 👍👍👍

Brilliant. You always make these mods look easy. Those small drill bit are a bugger for breaking when I use them, maybe it’s my bad technique. I’m glad I have my dads old drill press now, always better results. Awesome views on the test ride.
@iRidetas6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I was super happy with the results it was such a big increase. Im hell bent on doing this bike with basic tools to show people it can be done by anyone in the drive way but i would have felt a bit mors confident using a drill press for this mod!

Finally was able to get on track with all the episodes, I missed a few and was hard to catch up é_è Good job with gilby, tho I personally liked the military bag more and probably could have done without the windscreen, but to each their own; impressive work nonetheless, man! :)

Lol thanks. The screen, i am in two minds about. Makes such a difference at higher speed, dont love the looks. Fortunately it takes a minute to put on and off. That carb mod makes a huge difference. Bang for buck its first then the gearing change.

Hey mate. I did a tune job on my v star 250 taking out the slide to adjust the needle to run slightly leaner since it was running rich. I found that the bike wanted to die after first start when revving it, this was because the slide was slightly dirty and dry. So i dont think it was running lean, its the slide was not moving freely to richen the mixture when on power. A bit of oil or silicon spray helps a lot.
@iRidetas6 жыл бұрын
Good tip mate! Thanks 😀
@sheridancowling62575 жыл бұрын
So is there any sort of lubricant that helps the slide move or is it just dry all the time?

Thanks mate! I reckon cause its a "beginers" bike they have made it as sedate as possible so there is no snatchy throttle etc. If if was a 100hp plus bike i would understand but for 22hp its funny. Bang for buck best mod so far!

I'm seriously considering doing this mod. However, I've been told that 5th gear becomes a little less responsive, seemingly less torquay. (not that 5th is a responsive, torquay gear at the best of times). What is your experience? I'm running 17/42 sprockets. Thank you in advance. Brad
@iRidetas10 ай бұрын
Nah not im my experience, all gears gave more throttle response.

@iRidetas Thank you. Great video's man. Extremely helpful information. Cheers from Nova Scotia 🇨🇦

@@iRidetas Thank you.
@sheridancowling62575 жыл бұрын
So is it the drilled hole that makes it leaner or the looser spring?
@iRidetas5 жыл бұрын
Drilling the slide allows the vacuum to have a quicker effect on the lifting of the slide. This increases the responsiveness of the slide to the throttle and increases air-flow to the intake. This is usually necessary on most bikes to tune for the increased air/fuel and change needle settings and jets.

Is it possible that the screws are JIS. I’ve noticed my standard screwdrivers don’t quite fit and some of them look a little worse for wear.
@iRidetas6 жыл бұрын
Darren McKay im pretty sure they are Darren, which is a good point. Two of these looked like someone had used a chainsaw and a rabid wolverine to try and get them out!!! 😕 I replaced with hardened phillips but would have liked hex head
@BEEBEE1594 жыл бұрын
Yes, all the screws on the Yamaha are JIS. I bought a Vessel JIS screwdriver, and it has made removing screws a cinch, with no damage to the screw heads.

How does the slide mod affect gas mileage? Better or worse?
@iRidetas2 жыл бұрын
Negligible, it literally reduces vacuum pull on the slide allowing it to raise and fall more rapidly and inline with the throttle movements

Does this really work
@iRidetas5 жыл бұрын
Yes, its not magic it just reduces the vacuum oressure on the carb slide slightly allowing it to go up an down quicker thus giving more throttle response.
