As a kid I had a neighbor who duck hunted. Every year I'd see him in his yard painting his decoys next to his rickety jon boat. He didn't have the latest and greatest yet he faithfully came home with ducks. I'm a firm believer that skill is the ultimate factor in successful hunting.

Mad Martigan at the end of the day, you just have to be where the ducks want to be. Decoys just guide the ducks where you want them to go when they get there

Don't worry about the comments from guys who have unlimited money, Ive got 20 year old Flambeau's magnums and they still work fine. It's about what you can afford, how you use them and how you maintain them. I have a dozen pack of GHG mallards and they're paint is already showing wear, those are my most expensive decoys and my bass pro mallards look better. Keeper clean and re box them at the end of season, I think that has helped their overall life, good vid.

Thanks!!! I plan on keeping these and using them for as long as possible. I've been making a pit stop at the car wash on the way home and spraying them off (and getting the mud off my truck)

I have the same decoys...one thing I did to try and extend the life is use single slot bags instead of throwing in a bag. Also they are small but if you have relatively open water, you should be fine. The only time I have seen issues with the smaller decoys is when the water is weedy or spotty...that is when the birds really don't see them. I just started last year and plan on taking KZbin along on my learning journey. I will make sure to come back and check out your channel as well!

I haven't bought a bag to put them in, just a plastic tote that I had in my building. I'll try to purchase a slot bag soon enough which should help a lot. Thanks for checking the channel out. New stuff going up every Monday and Friday

Haha, you probably made the perfect purchases for decoys first. Those decoys are the nut. They re released them a few years ago and people who hunted the originals were paying big bucks for them online. The hens after you wear the paint off them will be the magnet in your spread. Leaving them outside for a year will accomplish this. But I got like 6 boxes of them in case they quit making them again.

Hey just bought a set was wondering how they actually did and if you still use them

Funny thing, I just found your video AFTER I purchased the exact same decoys and the exact same rigging. LOL . I also found a few good vids on using the same Rustoleum clear coat to help preserve the paint. Anyway, I see the video is a year old and I'm wondering how you made out with these decoys.

Still using these decoys alongside some additional ones I’ve purchased. They’re holding up well to this point. Color is still good, as I was expecting some fading, but they’re still looking great!
