Budget Fiberglass BFS Rod Review - DanKung Glassfin / Conquest BFS - BFS Trout Fishing

I will be updating information on this rod as I get more time fishing with it. Below are my thoughts of the GLASSFIN fiberglass BFS rod:
BLANK: Blank is made of a an almost two year process of refining the fiberglass materials to attain a responsive, lightweight and flexible taper that retains backbone. I found the blank to have all of those qualities
GUIDES: Fuji Stainless Steel Alconite. Basic guides that get the job done. I have many custom rods with Alconites. I believe guides provide the least "cost to performance" of major components and upgrades are used to raise rod prices.
REEL SEAT: Looks proprietary. Metal trigger is comfortable and reel seat is comfortable. Wood insert is a nice touch. Wood is smooth and is seamless with the metal parts of the reel seat. Wood has a slight taper for increased comfort.
GRIP: Grip is made of decent quality cork. I will report long term condition of cork after more use.
Only real downside of this rod is the epoxy work with the ferrules. There is A LOT of extra epoxy inside the blank where the ferrule is inserted into the blank. I communicated this to DanKung and they told me they would refine that process for production.
Overall good quality fiberglass rod for finesse stream fishing. The versatility I think is what surprised me the most. For a BFS stream rod to cover most of the trout fishing I do is pretty incredible. I find there are better rods for each small category but, to cover many categories very well leads this rod to always be rigged up for me.

Love mine . I use it on the rivers for trout but I’ve had pike to 10lb , chub , perch and bream aswell on it and it’s handled them all without issue.

Great product reviews! Would really enjoy a review of BFS glass rod made by U. S. company Graywolf Rods. Shane is an amazing craftsman who has been building fly rods since 1999 I think, but he also has been producing Glass and graphite BFS rods more recently . Sure would enjoy seeing a review of one his rods.

@@HobieWanKenobi I allready have composite rod from them, that one is built really nice, has more power, still able to make flick casts easy. I have it for bit bigger lure or more resistant lure applications. But glass is glass.

I got one of those yesterday, after see you other video, but i got spinning model. the rod is good, it's not hard to cast light weights, I do good distances with 0.5g practice on my backyard. I think the soft action is so fun to fight mini trouts on mountain streams!

I paired it with 17 conquest bfs with a roro bfs spool. It cast like a dream. Very low trajectory. My setup beat daiwa alphas air and the new Shimano aldebaran bfs.

The Roro spool makes a big difference with light lures for the 17 Conquest.

I got the 411 in orange and i have been enjoying it. I wish i can increase the sensitivity somehow, braided .4 dead or alive finesse fluorocarbon leader.

It's fairly sensitive with braid. I wouldn't choose it for using jigs and such but, it works well enough

I just want to thank you, sir! You have introduced me to a new style of fishing, which I have been enjoying tremendously. And you were right it's plenty sensitive. I did, however, innovate and incorporate flyfishing tactics with great success. My favorite setup is a mouse fly 2gr, tied at the hook an 8 inch 5x fluorocarbon to a micro 5 lbs hook to parachute Adam's size 14. At the micro hook you can change to different flies and setups. Casting distance is dependent on size, shape and weight but if more rang is needed split shots will do the trick, buoyancy can be controlled with flotatent or the add weight. This is just one example I have been enjoying myself experimenting and hunting fish. God bless, Thank you much!

This rod is faster in action. The Major Craft is a bit slower taper. Both are good rods

@@HobieWanKenobi Thanks for the reply. I picked up all 3 😂 3'8, the 4 piece travel, & Dan Kung. I dig the DK for flinging lighter lures but my accuracy seems to fall off the farther the cast, The Major Crafts seem to have a bit more punch to push my casts a wee bit further it seems even if by just a couple of feet. It's probably just my technique tho, as I'm no pro.

Compared to Tsurinoya master trout 4,7 how much more backbone has Dankungs glassfin? Looking for rod that cast 2-6gram minnow lures but still handles trout/rainbow trout 1-2kg and perch 1-1,5kg. I don´t like fighting the fish to long because the gear can´t handle the fish size.

I would say the Dankung rod has noticably more backbone and can handle a wider range of fish. Being fiberglass, the Dankung gives me more confidence handling bigger fish as well.

I'm asking because I really value your opinion. I'm upgrading from the zephyr and I can get the SLX BFS or the Kestrel Elite for around the same price... Which would you choose?

That Kestrel Elite is pretty nice. I would go with that over the SLX BFS.

hello my friend I want to ask why you catch bass with your left hand and trout with your right what is the difference?

Inside a mix of left and right hand reels. I always use left handed reels for the stream and I have a mix for lake fishing.

Is it 4 piece or 3 piece? The website says 3 piece. Which model is yours exactly?

Mine is a 4 piece. The handle comes off of mine. I find I never take the handle off, as not doing so makes the rod into three symmetrical pieces which is easier for packing.

The taper is quite smooth
