The Daiwa Silver Creek Glass Progressive 51LB-G is a new BFS rod from Daiwa Japan. The Silver Creek Glass progressive has a taper fast enough to twitch minnow style lures and still have flex when a fish hits your lure, This versatile blank should be a great option for water that have a variety of sized fish.
BLANK: Blank is made of 33% carbon and 67% ultra high density fiberglass. A mix of carbon and fiberglass for a rod blank is called composite. This composite material is supposed to combine the deep flex and smoothness of fiberglass and the lightweight, responsiveness and sensitivity of carbon. The action of the Silver Creek 51LB-G is faster than other fiberglass blanks but, still has a "progressive" deep taper as force is applied. This should increase accuracy and twitching of minnow style lures.

I was thinking of the Tenryu Spectra but, this Glass Progressive may take its spot. I usually use twitch style lures and fiberglass rods always seemed sloppy to me when twitching. If this rod is crisp, I will probably get this rod. Looking forward to your video fishing with it. Please use 3-6gr minnows

This rod definitely feels more crisp than other glass rods. I will be fishing a variety of waters to get a good test with this rod.

I very much look forward to an in depth review of this rod. I have been eyeing it for a while but as a newbie when it comes to glass and so far not having terribly good success with my Aliexpress Rosewood glass rod I have not dared to pull the trigger on the Glass Progressive. I use Daiwa Silver Stream Twitcher 4 piece with an 20 Alphas as my main backpacking rod/reel combo and I just feel a SC Glass Progressive will be the perfect match to my small Ambassadeurs that's currently just sitting and waiting for some rods. And with that said i need you to fish it with your Conquest :) Keep the great content coming!

Looking forward to an in depth review of this rod. I have been eyeing it for a while now but have not dared to pull the trigger. I have very little experience with glass rods, currently having no success with a cheap Aliexpress "Rosewood" glass rod. But since I really want to use my small Ambassadeurs and be a Swedish Angler Saito I hope your review can sway me ;) I know Daiwa Silver Creek rods are great, I use a Silver Stream Twitcher 4 part rod as my main backpacking rod, but glass is something else!

I will be uploading a video within a week fishing the Silver Creek Glass Progressive. Seems like a nice rod so far. I want some more testing to see different weight ranges and water types for people. Many people are interested in this rod but, don't want to pull the trigger...that's what I am for 😂

Great review as always man. My good friend Bob from Ashlin Fishing just got this exact rod as well and has been raving about it, glad to hear its serving you well too! I'm torn though, I've also been looking at the Palms Sylpher Crossover 4'6" as well as a Tailwalk rod (never used Tailwalk before) thats a 4'9" and interestingly enough uses a carbon butt section with a glass tip section, sounds very interesting.

Interesting rod, I can see myself using hybrid one as a beefier back up without loosing much play. Next and last(no really) Anglo&company Paragon G500 Bait Finesse, hoping i can replicate some of it in my custom rods.

Good luck with that. It is difficult to replicate action of JDM rods. I really like the hybrid nature of this rod. Wide range of fish can be caught with this rod.

I just order this rod the other day in an ultralight 46 version. The tenryu spectra is aa great rod. I love mine. Im not sure if you did a review on that rod. Im new to the glass rod. Just got the finetail glass rod. Im liking it so far which made me order this daiwa glass rod.

I used a friends Spectra rod last season. I have yet to edit that video. the 46UL was my first choice last year but, I decided that the 51L would be better compliment to my BFS trout rods.

Have you ever tried casting the Daiwa Wise Stream Telescopic rod? I’m curious how it compares as a more portable variant. I’m considering the Wise Stream as well as the Silver Creek Glass progressive. Maybe the Glass Progressive in Light and a Wise Stream Telescopic in UL so I have both bases covered.

That's not a bad plan. The Glass Progressive can handle quite a wide range of fishing. I have used it to cast for crappie, bass, trout and anything else. I haven't tried the wise stream

@@HobieWanKenobi I was thinking the glass progressive Light rod paired with the Silver Creek Air TW reel with stock spool, and then switch out the spool to a roro spool for the UL Wise Stream rod, or maybe just keep the spool stock and pair a Flight Feather BFS reel instead to the UL Wise Stream rod or maybe forget the Wise Stream UL rod all together and pair a Flight Feather BFS reel to a Pure Lure UL telescopic rod. Ugggghhh! The hard choices we are faced with sometimes in life. 😂

Silver Creek Glass Rod has multiple variants, What's the lure weight of this one? how does it perform compared to GLASSFIN rod?

This is the 5'2 L version. I go over the lure weight and such in the video. This rod has more power than the GLASSFIN and is more sensitive.

It is made for the Japanese market. Origin of where a rod is made doesn't make it JDM or not. JDM and such is just where a product is mostly advertised to sell.

This rod is more crisp than any pure fiberglass rod I have used. Accuracy is good and sensitivity too.

Well all cheap fiber glass rods are literal junk.. This ain't. Check something like "Enjoy Fishing Channel" and how these glass rods perform, its perfect balance of soft and hard, u can't do that with any carbon. Also the Casket glass rods cost thousand of dollars and waiting time is long.. So these $200 ain't look so much anymore. :D

@@gvidasgi2480 Key words to my comment was "that I have used". I know there are JDM glass rods that are very nice. I myself haven't used them. Much of the twitching that Angler Saito does, you can see the blank is overpowered a bit. This is a trade off to having a deeper flex when casting. I am sure if he were using lures that were not as heavy, it may be more crisp on the twitch.

@@HobieWanKenobi I was referring to Victor comment, that 200$ for glass rod is expensive, it isn't. Definitely not for good one like this daiwa.. And these are nothing like cheap ugly sticks or aliexpress noodle rods.

@@gvidasgi2480 Haha...I know cheap glass is different than good glass. Cheap glass is fun to fight a fish with but, very heavy and sloppy.
