I broke my beloved Hygge bike frame while on my commute home, so I scoured the used marketplace online for a replacement bike while I wait for my new frame. Lo and behold, I came across a 2012 Scott CR1 Team edition for a steal. Full carbon fiber, rim brakes, Shimano 105 10-speed, and Mavic Aksium race wheels for a no-nonsense road bike.

Awe buddy that is such a tough break, dramatic music is justified. Goodnight sweet prince. That temp bike is a solid score, people are really sleeping on rim brake bikes and odds are still pretty good that it has sat in a garage the majority of its life. At $400 it owes you nothing and you can ride the hell out of it and not feel guilty.

Funny coin the aluminum wheels more stiff and harsh than carbon wheels. That's sort of the opposite of what the industry has marketed carbon wheels as being. I have two sets of carbon wheels and two sets of aluminum wheels and on the same bike I like the ride of the aluminum wheels better. Also I would comment that obviously you haven't learned your lesson with carbon bikes yet, but you will. Can you tell I'm not a fan of carbon? After two decades of carbon frames and components I have gone back to metal frames and components. I learned my lesson.

Interesting, alot of people do go back to alloy type bikes after years of being on carbon. But the advantages of carbon for group rides always I see them. I have rarely seen a metal bike in a group ride here in my area.
