Budget fix for the terrible sound system in the WRX

In this video, I diagnose and repair the terrible sound system in my 2002 Subaru WRX. It turns out the system was nicer than I thought, but it had wiring and moisture problems that had made it sound a lot worse. Let's get it straightened out!

The wiring kit is fine for a low-power setup like this, but I'd recommend getting a nicer kit if you're going to be pushing 500+ watts RMS on a regular basis. Same with the sub - I'm using it to even the sound out and it's fine, but you can hear it start to struggle when it's pushed. That's fine though, for less than $100 it's probably the best 12" sub I've heard.

I have an 02 and it has the stock stereo system and whoever had the vehicle before I bought it took extremely really good care of it. It doesn’t sound bad but it does need help.

i got a 30€ head unit from china and it blew me away. i only have two speakers in the trunk cover in the rear but it sounds amazing for what it is.

fuse for the amp should be as close to the battery as possible otherwise if the positive wire shorts before the fuse it will cause a fire instead of blowing the fuse!

What Default said, I don't blur it while I'm driving around, so I don't care if people see it in a video. I'll try to avoid posting my home address or anything :-)

2021 is also horrendous. I literally cannot stand how bad the sound quality is. My phone speaker sound better.
