My First Autocross in my cheap 2002 WRX!

I just bought a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX for my new track car! I'll be autocrossing and tracking it, but first I have to figure out everything that's wrong with it and fix it up.
In this video, I cover the first two autocross weekends I've taken it to. So far...so good!

5:40 with the use of left foot braking and brake boosting it should help with your turbo lag issue. Just be careful it'll put more strain on your subi :]

Thank you for the videos. I still have my '02 WRX that I used to race with in SCCA street mod class. I have a similar base setup with a few additions (well, maybe more than a few). Makes me want to get her back in track form and take her racing! (Beware of the front end push through tight corners. AWD has a hard time with it.)

The car cleaned up quite well for being 17 years old. I have an 2004 STI that I am breaking in a new engine. Congrats on your project (I still miss my '02 bugeye from time to time).

This is a great series, I love this shit. It's hard to hold my attention for more than half a video, much less have me watch every second of a series. Great job I love it. One question: I've never done autocross or any type of competitive driving, how do you even know where to go? All the cones looked so confusing, how did you not go the wrong way on accident?

It looks difficult at first, but you get used to it! Lots of people do miss some cones (it's called going "off course") and if they can't figure it out soon, usually someone will ride with them to help direct them. Part of the challenge is learning the course, for sure.

Thanks! But, the engine starved of oil and rod-knocked at my first track day and I sold the car (still was able to run most of the AutoX season before then).

That steering fade is bitch. The lack of body roll looks great. The rack and pinion from the 2015 STI has one of the lowest fades in Subaru. Hope sounds and looks amazing.
