With my very pale skin I've always struggled with foundations. But after a few years of being very careful about what i put on my skin and religiously using my La Roche Posay Effaclar duo, (both due to everything I've learned from your channel,) my skin's feeling very happy and i'm getting away with just using some concealer instead of full foundation. I honestly think my skin's happier being able to just breathe too. Thanks Ruth! :)

Dear Ruth, I must let you know that you have totally changed the way I look at skin care. Based on your recommendations I purchased products from, amongst others, Alpha H, Hylamide and La Roche Posay Effaclair line plus a few luxury key items makeup wise, that you have been talking about. For the first time ever (as in EVER), and I am now 45 years old, my skin i so beautiful, plump, even toned and clear that I don't have to wear a foundation. And when I do I can settle for a lightweight glowy foundation and just feel absolutely confident. Thank you!

I just started wearing the Revlon color stay a few weeks ago, and I love it!!!! I have oily skin and need full coverage - it's definitely now a holy grail product for me. Looks great on the skin!!!!!

I've tried the Max Factor 3 in 1 mentioned here and found it quite pink in undertone...however my skin is not! It is something I've noticed with the high street foundations, even ones with darker tones available. That being said, the Revlon colourstay I find to have a more yellow/golden undertone which suits me, and strangely enough, a liquid foundation from Primark. I picked it up for €3 (in Germany) but I believe they also sell it in the UK. Only tried it once but so far so good!

No7 was my choice of foundation for years, I love the Stay perfect foundation, I used to use the Beautifully Matte but Stay Perfect I think is nicer, however Essentially Natural Foundation does not work on my skin, it is the ONLY foundation that oxygenates on my face & I end up looking slightly orange, considering I wear the lightest shades of any foundation that's a hard feat to achieve on my skin. I have only just discovered & really like L'oreal True Match & it stays the same colour all day, I use it with MAC Studio Fix Powder xxx

great video! for anyone with very pale skin I can recommend rimmel lasting perfection and rimmel match perfection - they do a "light porcelain" shade in both that is comparable to Bobbi Brown 01 alabaster in colour - really nice and pale.

So many of my American friends have fallen in love with No7 and Bourjois foundation, I've basically become a makeup mule for the Southeastern United States. :lol: While No7 is available Stateside, the shade range tends to be really narrow--for example, I could never find Calico (my shade) in Target after 2014 or so--compared to the bigger Boots shops.

Hello Ruth : Here in Uruguay L'Oréal and Max Factor are the best low budget foundations. I like both. They have for all skin types. Although for those women who have dark skin they have more options with Lancome. Uruguayan women preference by far is Lancome.

For some reason, here in Kuwait most of the stores (boots, debenhams, etc) do not stock the medium to darker foundation shades so its quite a challenge if you're an NC42 or darker and our choices are limited to either L'Oreal (thank goodness we at least have this), MAC or something more higher end like Clinique or Estee Lauder. I love L'Oreal's true match and use it all the time.

Very interested in the No.7 one since the bourjois serum foundation is my fav. Oh speaking of which I was in Boots last week and saw bourjois do many more shades of the serum foundation now, up to shade 59 I think, while the original shades were just 51,52,53. I was very impressed by that.

Foundation matching is not just a matter of dark and light, my problem with budget foundations is that they don't cater for a yellow undertone. Even the yellow shades in the L'oreal True Match range come up pink on me. The only 'budget' one I've found to match so far is EX1 Cosmetics, but they only have 1 foundation range.

In America True Match goes to shade 10, in Max Factor, which in America is Cover Girl Queen Latifah has a collection of 3 in 1 for women of color, the only foundations that you seem to have that match darker skin woman is Sleek! I am glad that you have taken up the cause. It is ridiculous! The 2 hardest categories of makeup to find are two separate groups the very fair, and the very dark!

The only affordable foundation available easily in the Netherlands is from a department store called Hema. It caters from really light do very dark tones. Even the ones you showed here don't offer the dark tones in stores around here. Now, for me personally it's always super simple to find a shade that matches, since I'm the run of the mill, average skin tone. I think it should be easy for everyone to just pick up a cheap option and have it "fit".

I was in UK last week and visited a very big Boots on the Bond's street I guess. And some of their staff seemed more like pigeons than human who were constantly staring at some people, supposedly as an attempt to prevent shoplifting. Even when they were answering my questions or checking out my orders, they never stopped staring at someone else. What you said at the beginning of this video brought those memories back. I'm sorry to say that but I really found that experience very disturbing.
@CL-yt8kc8 жыл бұрын
I realised that too! I was in a superdrug and literally every member of staff were staring at people shopping in there I felt too uncomfortable I just walked out. I thought it's a customer service problem that superdrug has but over time I find when the shop is located in a nice area they dont stare at you at all because people live the area are relatively richer, so that first superdrug I was in might just be in a less rich area.

Milani has very affordable foundations, their conceal and perfect 2 in 1 foundation comes in 14 shades and costs $9.99, full coverage and can be used as a concealer as well. Milani started out as a brand for women of color but has ventured into providing for lighter skin tones as well. The lightest in that line won't work for very fair people, but it should work for quite a lot of people. They have a powder foundation in 8 shades, a cream to powder in 12 shades, and a brightening concealer in 3 shades. All foundations are $9.99 and the brightening is $8.99.

@mandas6778 жыл бұрын
Emma Jean, unfortunately I'm too fair for their lightest shade so I haven't been able to test it. But my friend uses it and loves it. It doesn't oxidize on her, but she has very dry skin and I know more oily skin can make oxidation worse.
@ChocolateTeapot938 жыл бұрын
I think the shade range in the Revlon foundation is terrible. The lightest shade was too dark for me and very yellow. I recommend the Maxfactor 3 in 1 foundation to everyone because that and the No 7 stay perfect are the only foundations that last 8 hours on my oily skin. No 7 is probably the best brand if you struggle to find a colour match since they have that device that matches you and there's no guessing involved.
